There's a parity issue between Java and Bedrock that most people don't know about, because usually it doesn't even matter at all. In Java Edition, there's no item tag for Spawn Eggs, but there is one in Bedrock. Why? Who knows, but when trying to create another datapack, it not existing was a problem, so I decided to make one myself.
That's all this datapack really is, just a single added item tag for Spawn Eggs, that tag being minecraft:spawn_egg
. It's mainly for developers to use, as it doesn't add anything on its own. Could I have done what I wanted without a whole other datapack just for an item tag? Sure, but this means any others who want to do something that pertains to all spawn eggs doesn't have to do this themselves, so I decided to make it a separate datapack for any mod or datapack developers that need it. They don't even need to make this a requirement, they can just outright take the item tag and put it in their mod or datapack, I won't mind!
I have uploaded another datapack that does make use of this item tag though, so if you'd like to see it in action, go check that out right here.
