Basic Description
Triple life is a combat minigame datapack inspired by Grian's Third Life series with some of my own features and ideas. You have 3 lives, and fight to the death after a set ceasefire timer.
Features
Three Lives Hardcore All players start with 3 lives. Once you lose all three lives you are put in spectator. Like in Grian's series, people with 3 lives left have green names, yellow on 2, red on 1, and grey on dead.
Ceasefire Timer To prevent relying on honour like in Grian's series, the pack disables direct pvp (melee weapons, bows, anything that would put the attacker's name in the death message) during the ceasefire to ensure players get a fair start. You can still use TNT, fall damage, lava, or any other indirect way of damaging a player. There are 3 options for ceasefire length, 48, 64, and 96 minutes.
Loot Drops Every 10 minutes, the game will spread items of various values across the map. They will despawn after 30 seconds. These items include food, building blocks, weapons, and a chance to get rare items like golden apples. Be sure to collect some good stuff!
I am planning to add the ability to configure or disable these, as they can by quite OP; add multiple loot tables to choose from and add the ability to adjust loot amount.
Worldborder The worldborder is set to a diameter of 600 blocks centered on 0,0 during the ceasefire period, I think this is similar to Grian's series. Once PVP starts, the border shrinks to a diameter of 80 blocks over 5 minutes.
I am also planning to make this configurable, multiple border size options, disable shrinking, etc.
Waiting Room Players who join the world or server spawn in a generated structure at 0,0 in adventure mode. It is encased in barrier blocks to prevent tampering after the game starts. Contains a command block with a button that starts the game. You don't need any OP to start the game, so competitive gameplay is possible without needing trust.
New Crafting Recipes
TNT is much cheaper, requiring only 1 gunpowder. Elytra are also craftable.

Instructions for use
First off, you will want a decent seed to play on before loading up the pack. The pack always has 0,0 at the centre of the map, so make sure your seed doesn't have an inconvenient fighting surface there, like an ocean (unless you want to play on that...). You will also want make sure the seed is decently balanced, not with way more good structures or biomes all on one side. I have some good seeds listed below.
-1288815810879749593 Not perfectly balanced, 2 villages, mostly plains with some forest, hilly in places, has some water soloot drops loot will be more condensed on land.
474483264576653762 Well balanced, no villages, taiga, forest, meadow, frozen peaks, has a mountain, and valley at 0,0.
You can play on a random seed if you want, but it is possible to have the entire map be ocean or be extremely difficult in some other way.
The pack should work in both singleplayer open to lan and server. I have not yet tested adding to an already played on world, I recommend adding in the create world screen on a new world. Definitely do not add to your survival world, you will need cheats to undo it's effects.
Other details and notes
- Keep inventory is on by default for the entire game.
- The locator bar is disabled during ceasefire, and enabled during PVP.
- Immediate respawn is enabled for the entire game.
- All players start with a vanilla bonus chest beside them and 4 bread in their inventory.
- Loot drops can sometimes cause lag spikes if large sections of the map are water. If playing competitively I recommend using the PaperMC server software.
- Loot drops can become OP if very large sections of the map are water. Loot does not spawn on water, so all the loot will be condensed on the land. This is one reason why I am going to make loot drops adjustable.
- The waiting room generates at exactly 0 120 0. If there is a mountain at 0,0 that position can be underground. That is ok and will not break the pack.
