Merry, MERRY Christmas! One last update before the holiday arrives!
As a Christmas treat for you all, I'm releasing a new update with TONS of new stuff! Here's the full list:
- Nether Star Gear: That's right, there's an entirely new material at play here! I've added Smithing Table recipes for the Nether Star, which can be used to upgrade your Netherite gear into an even more impressive set of armor! It offers more durability, more knockback resistance, and better armor toughness! Not only that, there's Nether Star tools and weapons too! They all have better stats than Netherite tools. Just know that you'll need to beat a lot of Withers for these; although, that'll net you some Heart Containers too, so not a bad investment at all!
- Hats: After some experiments with figuring out how to 3D model using Blockbench, I've added 35 hats to the game! They're all beanies, and they have the same color options that all other custom items have. Additionally, the Santa Hat from last update is now a 3D model instead of being an Armor-like texture.
- Texture Changes: these small, but there's been some slight tweaks to some Elytra textures and the banana texture has been redone.
More Food and More Bundles!
This update adds 5 more food items, 1 new book color, and new dyeable Bundles to fill out the collection!
Food: firstly, there are 2 new naturally generating food items. Green Apples now have a chance of falling out of Oak and Dark Oak Trees, and you can both apple types to make Baked Apples and other Apple variants. Bananas are new as well, potentially falling out of Jungle Leaves! They have slightly more saturation than Apples. The other 3 variants are new Apple types: Emerald, Diamond, and Enchanted Diamond Apples! Enchanted Diamond Apples can only be found very rarely in End City chests, while the other two can be crafted. Their recipes have been added to the Strong Scroll.
Dyeable Bundles: While Vanilla Minecraft already has the first 16 dye options, I've added the other options from the books and Elytra to the Bundle! Additionally, they will have the official name of the color on the item now for Bundles and Elytra.
Merry Early Christmas, here's a HUGE update!
Heart Containers: straight out of The Legend of Zelda, these permanently* upgrade your max health whenever you consume one! They can only be found upon killing either the Wither or the Ender Dragon, and even then there is a small chance that it is not dropped. (*Due to a technical issue, you lose your extra hearts on death. However, upon consuming another Heart Container, it replenishes all lost hearts while additionally adding 1 extra.)
New Advancements: many new advancements have been added!...well, they're actually old. Several Achievements from before the Advancement system was added have been added to Vanilla+! Due to my personal lack of knowledge, some have had to be adjusted slightly in order to work, but for the most part they are exactly how they were when they were removed.
Turtle Armor: a full set of Turtle Gear has been added, making for 8 total sets of armor. These 3 extra parts are designed to be worn with the Turtle Shell helmet, are slightly worse than iron, and each have a specific buff.
Christmas Items: finally, 6 new items have been added to celebrate Christmas! These are 5 new food items and a Santa hat, craftable with 4 red wool and 3 white wool. The food items are Candy Canes, a Gingerbread Man, Eggnog, Hot Chocolate, and Chocolate Milk! The food item recipes can be found by using the Sweet Scroll and the Drinks Scroll.
Now featured as a mod!
Exciting news! If you want to download Vanilla+ as a mod, you now can! It can be used on any Mod Loader and does not require you to turn on the Required Resource Pack, instead integrating all textures into the .jar file.
It still has all the limitations of a data pack however; items like the Ocarinas can be used to craft the custom Goat Horns, since they are what the actual items are in the data pack. I am not familiar enough with coding to actually edit these and make them fully custom items for the mod release.
Special Goat Horns and Bug Fixes!
A smaller update for today, but a fun one nonetheless! Firstly, I've fixed the Ocarinas. I didn't realize it before, but in Survival, using an Ocarina would make it disappear after one use! This is now fixed (unfortunately, you will have to find new copies of each to have the fixed versions). Also, I've changed the music in the Ocarinas to copyright free arrangements of the "Song of Storms" and "Sun's Song," made by me in MuseScore! This is just a safeguard for any potential rights issues, plus I thought the current versions were a little too long.
The biggest addition of this update is actually the repurposing of a recently abandoned feature: the Copper Horn. When it was briefly on Bedrock Edition, this would play different parts of a song depending on the position of the player, with 10 different songs. It was removed before official release, but I've decided to add it and the 10 other variations back into the game, this time having each variation made from a different material! Upon obtaining a Goat Horn for the first time, you will unlock all 10 crafting recipes, so try them out! (Also see their textures in the gallery section of this page)
Resin Items, Medallions, and other Changes!
A brand new update for 1.21.4!
- First up are new items using Resin! Since 1.21.4 adds the Creaking, the Pale Garden, and Resin blocks and items, these are now utilized in the data pack. There is a full set of Resin gear (Armor, Weapons, and Tools) that is the equivalent of Golden Gear. You can also dye your Books or Elytra into Resin colors!
- Medallions: these are new items used to unlock the recipes for each Gear set. The Copper Medallion is found in Dungeons, the Lapis Medallion is found in Shipwrecks, the Redstone Medallion is found in Mineshafts, the Resin Medallion is in Desert Temples, the Quartz Medallion is in the Nether Fortress, the Emerald Medallion is in Trial Chamber Pots, and the Amethyst Medallion is found in Treasure Bastions.
- In terms of changes, the Mushroom items can no longer be crafted. Instead, they are found in normal Vaults in Trial Chambers. This is to make them easier to get by players, since before they had to be crafted. In general I'm trying to remember to add a way to get the crafting recipes for anything I add, and if I don't already have a way to unlock certain items, then I add it or change how they're gotten.
Ocarinas, Scrolls, and Advancements!
Another update, another changelog!
- The first new features are 2 Ocarinas from The Legend of Zelda series! These are unique items found only when opening an Ominous Vault in a Trial Chamber. One plays the "Song of Storms," which summons a thunderstorm that lasts 5 minutes; it has a cooldown of 10 minutes. The other plays the "Sun's Song," which can reset the time of day to the morning; this one has a cooldown of 20 minutes.
- The next new features are Scrolls. These are 4 different items that can be found in certain chests. Right-clicking while holding them unlocks a batch of Custom Food recipes! The Average Scroll can be found as part of Buried Treasure, the Sweet Scroll can be found in a Pillager Outpost, the Drinks Scroll can be found in small Underwater Ruins, and the Strong Scroll can be found in Woodland Mansions.
- Finally we have new Advancements. 4 are gained when using each Scroll, and others can be gained by cooking certain Custom Food items. In fact, you can see the first of those advancements right when you unlock the Husbandry category, so be sure to look there for information on how to create your very first foods.
Locked Chests and Naturally Generating Items!
Here's another update! This time around, I've added Locked Chests and Locked Barrels that can be crafted! There are 2 types, one that can be opened with a Small Key, and one that can be opened with a Big Key! Due to this, Keys can no longer be crafted, and now can be found in Stronghold libraries. This is to encourage exploration and to make locked storage units a more late-game item. Also, each Village now has a chance of containing a custom food item in one of its generic chests, as a more natural way to show the player that they can be made. Additionally, Butcher Villager houses can include Smoked Steak or Smoked Mutton in a chest.
Custom Tools are here!
The Data Pack now includes sets of custom tools to go along with the new armor! They all correspond to a toolset already in the game; despite Quartz being the equivalent of Chainmail, its tools are instead on the level of Iron (since Chainmail does not have a toolset).
A rebrand: Dyeable Books is now Vanilla+!
This update adds over 100 new items to the game! In addition to the Dyeable Books that the project was previously soley about, there are now many custom food items, some with helpful effects, dyeable Elytra, and new types of Armor, all able to be trimmed with Armor Trims!
