📖 Overview

This project is inspired by the well-known mod Visible Traders, but has been redesigned for different server environments. Its core goal is simple: make trade preview a pure server-side feature so that vanilla client players can use it seamlessly.

Two versions are currently available:

Data Pack Version: For vanilla-only environments, suitable for Vanilla, Paper, Spigot, and other servers and singleplayer saves.
Fabric Version: For Fabric servers and Fabric singleplayer, requiring Fabric Loader.

✨ Main Features

🔮 Trade Preview: When interacting with a level 1 villager, the trade interface directly displays the trade options that would only be unlocked after future level-ups, shown in a locked state.
🖥️ Server-side Friendly:
- Data Pack Version: Players do not need to install any mods or resource packs; simply place the data pack into the server/save and it takes effect.
- Fabric Version: When installed on a Fabric server, vanilla client players do not need to install anything extra; it can also be installed for singleplayer.
🧩 Fully Compatible: Works with all vanilla villager professions and biome variants.
📦 Works Out of the Box: After installation, newly employed villagers on the server automatically gain the trade preview feature.

💡 Differences from the Visible Traders Mod

Unlike the Visible Traders mod, which requires installation on both client and server, this project prioritises "pure server-side usability" and offers more flexible choices:

Data Pack Version: Built specifically for vanilla-only servers or singleplayer games where mods cannot be installed, implementing the core functionality through the data pack system.
Fabric Version: Suitable for servers or singleplayer players already using Fabric; when used as a server-side mod, vanilla client players do not need to install anything extra.

Both the Data Pack Version and the Fabric Version are independent projects inspired by Visible Traders and developed for different environments. They are not directly affiliated with the Visible Traders mod.

📥 Installation

Data Pack Version

Download the data pack file (.zip).
Place the file into the world/datapacks folder of your server or singleplayer save.
Restart the server or run /reload.
Done!

Fabric Version

Install Fabric Loader for the corresponding Minecraft version.
Download the Fabric Version .jar file.
Place the .jar into the mods folder.
- For a Fabric server: only the server needs it installed; vanilla client players do not need to install anything.
- For singleplayer: it must be installed on the Fabric client.
Restart the game or server.
Done!

Players do not need to install anything extra — simply interact with a level 1 villager to preview future trades.
The Data Pack Version and the Fabric Version have identical functionality. Please choose one to install according to your environment; usually there is no need to install both.
