For a long time, I played minecraft with tech mods. To the extend that I pretty much forgot every single vanilla mechanic. Finally, the day had come that playing the game was no more fun and it became repetitive. I separated my way, from minecraft!
After few years, I decided to come back and play how ever, knowing the result of heavily technical mods being added to game... I decided to go with vanilla.
Playing vanilla is fun. How ever, the early game is a little bit slow and challenging. Those challenges make the game fun, that's true, but,... only for the first time you try and play and go forward. After that, the early game stage becomes a boring step that you should walk on.
That is why I decided to write this mod. When I was starting, I thought to my self : "If I want to stay as close to vanilla as possible, but make my own life easier without head diving into tech mods,...
-
What do I need?
-
What are the tools and game mechanics that I really whish to have in game?
-
Would any one of these break the fun of playing vanilla?
So, after considering many things, I decided on these facts :
-
Killing mobs are fun for the first few hours you start a new world
-
After playing the same world for two weeks, no one is afraid of any mob.
-
Most of players would make a mob switch someone and convert their world into peaceful and only turn it off when they want to be near their mob farm
-
After killing the dragon, mobs are not a challenge any more.
-
The best part of minecraft, is building huge stuff in game, but, doing it in creative is not fun. Part of the fun is gathering resources, creating contraptions and farms for resources.
-
Mining should always be a part of this game but... it should not be a hell to find something
-
After few days of playing the game, the items become cheap and gradually the game becomes easy
Taking all of these facts into consideration, I had few choices :
-
either I had to add more powerful entities and bosses in game to kill. Let's face it, it has been done many many times and even then, after few times, those mobs become joke
-
forget about mob killing aspect and focus more on building pretty buildings
-
make recipes a little bit more challenging on every single step, at least, the game would become easy, a little bit late
And that, was the core concept behind this mod. I didn't touch the vanilla armor's mechanics, how ever, added few of my own and if you put full set of an armor on, you will have nice and a little bit over powered effects.
I tried to group these effects with some intentionally strategic use cases in mind. How ever, to balance things off a little bit, these items are not cheap to make at all.
Also, added my own set of tools. The only special ones are the swords hammers and enderite pickaxe (you will love this one). other tools are just fancy more durable ones. There are three bows in the mod. Two of them will be pulled 4 times faster than vanilla and that is it. But the enderite one, has infinity by default and when you target endermen with it, they get damage! After all, the ingot came from their home land, they are not more powerful than superman are they?!
By now, I tweaked every vanilla recipe that counts to make the game a little more challenging, made my armors and items. It was time to handle one of the glaring issues in minecraft (of all time), the inventory space.
Looking around, I found a backpack mod that was not updated from 1.16 how ever, I never liked the idea of back packs being upgradable. After all, the goal is just to make our life easier. That is why I added the leather back pack with 54 slots! And "NO" upgrades for that.
If you think this is big, well, wait to open my additions of enderite shulker boxes with total of 108 slots and two fluid tanks each with the capacity of 100 buckets of any fluid (any mod with fluid and buckets related to fluid, should be supported by default). If you think that is it, you are wrong.
I don't understand, when we can carry 27 shulker boxes in our hands (player inventory) and 9 on our back (player hot bar), why can't we put shulker boxes in our bag?! YUP you heared right. that bag with 54 inventory slots, can take shulker boxes in!
Finally, it was time to add ore to the world. Well beside my own mod's ore, I added some vanilla ore generation to nether. One thing you should keep in mind about the enderite ore in the end :
When you first see the enderite ore in the end, it looks like an endstone, easy to harvest. But, it is as hard as netherite and even more! It won't break with any pickaxe even netherite tier! So how to harvest it?
You need to soften it up. With? TNT ! Yup. Explosion will turn the original ore stone to the harvestable one. Now you can easily break this with a diamond pick axe. The result will be raw enderite.
No something about enderman bothered me for a long time: you put a stupid pumpkin on your hear, they don't see you. But, you drink an advanced invisibility position, they still see you! Glare at them and you are dooms, to hell with invisibility!
Well, no more. If you have invisibility effect (by using potion, or one of my full armor sets) endermen will not notice your glare any more. Finally something more valuable than pumpkins are stopping these aliens!
Use gem cleanser block to clean raw ruby, sapphire, citrine and enderite. That is the only way to get the gems and ingot (enderite) in game.
ok, so far we have everything. How ever, what about ore duplication? What if we want to quadruple our ore production?
Did you ever miss Tinker's Construct? What was so nice about it? The ability to smelt ore, and using cast to reshape it. How ever, it was time consuming and slow. Also, who needs hundreds of different tool options?
Normally you would only use few of the possibilities and you would always go with the same combo. Now, you can't even get your tools to iron tear with vanilla mechanics any more!
You heared me right, you can only craft wood and stone tools in crafting table. Beyond that, you need a cast press. Pressing some wood to ingot cast (one time use per cast) you can create pickaxe head for iron and putting it on top a stick and bind them together with string, you can have your first iron pickaxe.
Then you should focuse on getting some gold, because you need to press some gold casts that would last for ever. Finally, time to make your smeltery, a single block that uses lava as it's fuel.
There are gears, tool heads, plates, reinforced plates, and rods in the list. Almost every vanilla mechanic and core stuff (item or block) uses some of these.
There is even more fun stuff in this mod. There is a chunk loader block and.... a player teleportation tool. Unlike the other mod (Tune Me), this teleportation device can teleport the player even between dimensions.
I told you, I give you over powered tools and armor, but nothing in game is cheap and easy from now on.
At the end, I highly recommend using REI. You will have easier time for crafting items. Remember, the only enchantment you can put on any armor or tool item in this mod, is MENDING.
Here are the list of effects on swords, hammers, and full armor set :
Full Emerald Armor : Hero of the village, Bad omen, Regeneration
Full Citrine Armor : Haste, Invisibility, Saturation
Full Amethyst Armor : Night vision, Fire Resistance, Luck
Full Ruby Armor : Night vision, Fire Resistance, Luck
Full Sapphire Armor : Conduit power, Dolphine grace, Invisibility
Full Copper Armor : Speed, Jump boost, Slow falling
Full Enderite Armor : Luck, Night vision, Creative Flight
Swords :
Enderite --> killing enderman with this will guaranty at least one ender pearl (up to 5) per enderman kill
Citrine --> killing wither skeleton with this sword guaranty head drop on every single kill
Sapphire --> hitting any entity with this sword, will knock it back (almost double distance compared to vanilla) and gives the entity slowness for 20 seconds
Ruby --> killing any animal with this, will cause the meat to drop as cooked and not raw (entity list is configurable by a tag json for mod pack developers)
Copper --> hitting any entity with this sword, will cause slowness, weakness, and wither effect on that entity for 20 seconds!
Hammers dig tunnels by a given radius and depth:
Citrine --> radius : 3 * 3 | depth : 2
Copper --> radius : 3 * 3 | depth : 2
Diamond --> radius : 5 * 5 | depth : 2
Enderite --> radius : 5 * 5 | depth : 5
Gold --> radius : 5 * 5 | depth : 1
Iron --> radius : 5 * 5 | depth : 1
Netherite --> radius : 5 * 5 | depth : 3
Ruby --> radius : 3 * 3 | depth : 3
Sapphire --> radius : 3 * 3 | depth : 3
Stone --> radius : 3 * 3 | depth : 1
Wood --> radius : 3 * 3 | depth : 1
No more boring time of finding resources :D
Finally,
I SHOULD THANK EVERYONE IN FABRIC DISCORD SERVER.
I can't yell and shout enough to thank everyone of the community members with their helpful and kind comments and guidance.
I should mention, many of the textures are not mine, almost all of them were under MIT license. The stone plate texture is from red power (thanks eloraam) Citrine, ruby and sapphire came from Kaupenjoe's video tutorials at youtube. Plates and Reinforced Plates came from COFH (forge mod) Ore textures came from different mods mentioned above.
