🎵 Always Play
Keep the music playing-and bring your own soundtrack to Minecraft.
Always Play is an in-game music player for Minecraft. It lets you control background music, adjust the delay between tracks, create playlists, import your own audio files, and record music onto discs to enjoy with friends.
🎧 Your music, your settings
- Listen to vanilla music, your own tracks, or a mix of both.
- Import audio files in WAV, MP3, OGG and FLAC formats.
- Choose a music folder on your computer without copying its files into the mod’s folder.
- Browse your library, search for tracks, and play individual songs.
- Create playlists manually or from folders.
- Reorder tracks in playlists using drag and drop.
- Choose sequential playback, shuffle without repeats, or fully random playback.
- Adjust the delay between tracks: from 0 seconds to 20 minutes.
- Enable smooth crossfading and automatic volume normalization for custom tracks.
- Repeat your favorite track with a dedicated hotkey.
đź’ż Record your own music discs
Record a custom track or vanilla background music onto a music disc.
- Rename a music disc Clean using an anvil.
- Hold a single renamed disc in your main hand and right-click a jukebox.
- Choose a track and enter its title and composer.
- Confirm and wait for the recording completion notification.
- Insert the recorded disc into a jukebox-or give it to another player.
Recorded discs use positional audio: what you hear depends on your position and distance from the jukebox.
Background music can smoothly fade out and pause near a playing jukebox, then return when the disc stops or you move away.
🤝 Listen with friends
On a server or in a world opened to LAN, Always Play transfers custom tracks to other players. They do not need to download your audio files in advance or manually add them to their libraries.
Preloading helps prepare tracks for playback. Notifications show disc recording and music loading progress.
Recording discs and sharing tracks in multiplayer require the same Always Play version on the server or LAN host and participating clients.
📚 Friends’ music & cache management
Manage received tracks through the Music cache screen:
- View and clear locally cached music.
- Choose whether to keep or clear a server’s cache when leaving.
- Save received tracks to Friends’ music for later listening.
Clearing temporary cache does not delete your saved library or recorded discs.
⌨️ Default controls

⚙️ Installation & settings
- Requires Fabric Loader and Fabric API.
- Install Mod Menu to access the settings screen.
- For personal background music playback, installing the mod on your client is enough.
- For recorded discs and track sharing in multiplayer, the mod and its required dependencies must also be installed on the server.
The interface is available in English, Russian and Ukrainian.
🚧 Development & roadmap
Always Play is still in early development, so you may encounter bugs. If you notice a problem or have an idea for a feature, please reach out on Discord. Feedback and questions about the mod are always welcome.
Keeping up with the latest Minecraft version is my top priority. I plan to keep updating the mod as new versions of the game are released.
Development is divided into several stages:
- Right now - building the foundation. I am adding features that I personally miss in Minecraft and would like to bring to the game.
- Version 1.3.0 - compatibility. This stage will focus on how Always Play works with other mods: checking compatibility and exploring interesting ways for them to work together.
- Version 1.4.0 - a complete interface overhaul. The current interface focuses on getting the job done. For 1.4.0, I plan to redesign its appearance and improve usability.
- After 1.4.0 - support for older Minecraft versions. Backports are not planned before this stage.
There are no fixed release dates yet: I work on the mod in my free time. If you are curious about development progress, stop by Discord-I am happy to talk about it.
đź’ Why Always Play?
I wanted Minecraft’s music to play more often, without long waits between tracks. Then I wanted to add my own music. Over time, Always Play grew into a music player for enjoying your favorite tracks yourself and sharing them with friends.
