Always Play — Version 1.2.3
Custom Music Discs
- Record your own tracks, vanilla background music, or music from other discs onto a music disc.
- To record a disc, rename it to
Cleanusing an anvil, choose a track, and enter its title and composer. Repeat these steps to overwrite it. - Supports MP3, WAV, OGG, and FLAC.
- Recorded music plays from the jukebox: it gets quieter as you move away, and its stereo position changes as you turn.
- A notification shows recording progress as a percentage. You can switch your selected slot while recording — just keep the disc in your inventory.
Music Near Jukeboxes
- Always Play smoothly fades out for a playing disc and returns when the disc stops or you move out of range.
- Adjust the detection range and fade duration in the settings, or turn this feature off.
Listen Together
- Give recorded discs to friends — they do not need to download your audio files manually.
- Tracks preload quietly in the background. If a track is still downloading when you try to insert its disc, a notification shows the progress. Insert the disc again once it is ready.
- Shared playback requires the mod on the server and for every listener. In a LAN world, the host and listeners need the mod.
Music Cache and Friends’ Music
- The new Music cache settings let you clear downloaded music for individual worlds and servers, or select specific tracks.
- Save tracks you like to Friends’ music to listen later or record them onto your own discs. Clearing the cache will not delete these saved tracks.
- When connecting, choose Friends’ world or Public server. For public servers, you can choose whether to keep downloaded music after leaving.
Notes
- Shared audio files can be up to 32 MiB and 30 minutes long.
- After restarting a world, remove and reinsert any disc left in a jukebox to start playback again.
- Public server support has not been tested yet.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
