Unofficial continuation of Animatica for modern Minecraft versions.
Animatica Continuation is an unofficial continuation of Animatica by FoundationGames, ported to newer Minecraft versions.
This beta release currently supports Minecraft 1.21.11 on Fabric.
Animatica adds support for resource packs that use MCPatcher/OptiFine-style custom animated textures. These are different from normal vanilla animated textures and are commonly found in older OptiFine resource packs.
What does Animatica do?
Animatica supports custom animated texture definitions from resource packs using the MCPatcher/OptiFine animation format.
This can include:
- Animated GUI textures
- Animated entity textures
- Animated block entity textures
- Animated armor textures
- Other custom animated textures
Normal animated blocks and items using vanilla .mcmeta files are already supported by Minecraft and do not require Animatica.
Supported Minecraft Versions
Currently supported:
- Minecraft 1.21.11 Fabric beta
More versions may be added as testing continues.
Supported Animation Paths
Animatica Continuation supports animations from:
optifine/anim/mcpatcher/anim/animatica/anim/
What This Mod Does Not Support
Animatica Continuation does not add every OptiFine feature.
It does not support:
- Fully custom GUIs. Use OptiGUI for that.
- Custom entity models. Use CEM for that.
- Custom entity model part animations.
- Connected textures.
- Custom item textures.
- Any other MCPatcher/OptiFine feature outside custom animated textures.
For custom item textures, use CIT Resewn Continuation.
Beta Status
This port is currently marked as beta while more resource packs are tested.
The mod has been tested with several MCPatcher/OptiFine-style animated texture packs. Some animations have been confirmed to only work when Animatica Continuation is installed.
There may still be bugs or resource-pack-specific issues. If you find broken animations, crashes, or reload problems, please report them on GitHub.
Resource Pack Compatibility
Some older resource packs may reference texture paths that changed in newer Minecraft versions.
When that happens, Animatica may skip animations that target textures Minecraft no longer has at that path. This is usually a resource pack compatibility issue rather than a crash-level mod issue.

Thank you to FoundationGames and the MCPatcher/OptiFine resource pack community for the original work that made these animated texture formats possible.
