Armor Resistance
This Is A Netherite Addon / Mod Which Introduces A New Attribute To Netherite Armor.
General Information
People Always Wonder Why Minecraft Won't Tweak Armor Despite Many Requests On Doing So. Whether It's Enderite Or Any Armor Buffs. Well, I Did Exactly That.
I Am Part Of The Minecraft 1.9+ PvP Community & I Created A Mod That Not Only Helps Counter Extremely High Burst Damage From Weapons Such As The Mace, But Also Keeps Combat Balanced, Unpredictable, And Exciting.
This Mod Is Best Used In SMPs, Hardcore Worlds, And PvP-Focused Servers.
Core Information About The Mod
What Is Armor Resistance?
Armor Resistance Is A New Attribute Added To Netherite Armor.
Unlike Armor Points, Toughness, Or Protection Enchantments, Armor Resistance Is Checked Before Any Vanilla Damage Reduction Calculations Occur.
When Activated, Armor Resistance Can:
- Completely Negate Incoming Damage
- Completely Negate Armor Durability Loss
However, It Is Not Guaranteed To Activate.
Armor Resistance Uses A Conditional Chance-Based System Designed To Counter Extremely High Damage Attacks Rather Than Everyday Combat.
How Do I Obtain Armor Resistance Armor?
Armor Resistance Netherite Armor Can Only Be Obtained From Piglin Brutes.
Piglin Brutes Have A Chance To Spawn Wearing Special Armor Resistance Netherite Armor:
- 4% Chance For 1 Piece
- 3% Chance For 2 Pieces
- 2% Chance For 3 Pieces
- 1% Chance For A Full Set
To Obtain It, Right Click A Piglin Brute With A Netherite Scrap For A Single Piece.
Armor Resistance Armor:
- Can Spawn With Vanilla Netherite Enchantments
- Has A 100% Drop Chance
- Cannot Be Crafted
- Cannot Be Upgraded
- Cannot Be Modified In Survival
Armor Resistance Values
Each Armor Piece Contributes Resistance Points:
| Piece | Resistance |
|---|---|
| Helmet | 1 |
| Chestplate | 4 |
| Leggings | 2 |
| Boots | 1 |
A Full Set Provides:
R = 8 Total Armor Resistance
R Represents The Combined Armor Resistance Value Of All Equipped Armor Pieces.
How Does It Work?
Armor Resistance Activates Before Armor Points, Toughness, Protection Enchantments, Resistance Effects, And Other Vanilla Damage Reduction Mechanics.
Base Activation Chance
Base Chance Is Calculated Using:
Base Chance (%) = R × 10
Examples:
- R = 1 → 10%
- R = 5 → 50%
- R = 8 → 80%
- R = 12 → 120%
- R = 48 → 480%
Values Above 100% Are Raw Values And May Be Reduced By Anti-Abuse Scaling.
Damage Requirement
Armor Resistance Only Has A Chance To Activate If Incoming Damage Falls Within This Range:
Minimum Damage = R + 3
Maximum Damage = (R + 3) + 8
Example:
R = 8
Minimum Damage = 11
Maximum Damage = 19
A Full Set (R = 8) Can Only Roll Armor Resistance Against Attacks Dealing Between 11 And 19 Hearts Of Damage.
If The Damage Requirement Is Not Met:
- Armor Resistance Does Not Roll
- Armor Resistance Is Completely Ignored
- Vanilla Damage Processing Continues Normally
This Prevents Armor Resistance From Affecting Normal Combat While Allowing It To Counter Devastating Burst Damage.
Durability Requirement
Armor Resistance Also Checks How Much Durability Would Be Lost.
Minimum Durability Loss = R + 2
Maximum Durability Loss = (R + 2) + R
Example:
R = 8
Minimum Durability Loss = 10
Maximum Durability Loss = 18
If The Damage Requirement Passes But The Durability Requirement Fails:
Final Chance = Base Chance ÷ 1.5
Decimals Are Ignored.
Example:
80 ÷ 1.5 = 53%
Activation Result
If Armor Resistance Successfully Activates:
- Negates 100% Of Incoming Damage
- Negates 100% Of Durability Loss
- Prevents Health Loss
- Prevents Armor Durability Loss
If The Roll Fails:
- Vanilla Damage Processing Continues Normally
Creative Mode & Attribute Support
Although Armor Resistance Cannot Be Modified In Survival, It Is Implemented As A Real Attribute.
This Means Developers, Map Makers, And Server Owners Can Modify Armor Resistance Using Vanilla Commands Such As:
/attribute
Example:
Helmet = 12
Chestplate = 12
Leggings = 12
Boots = 12
R = 48
Anti-Abuse Scaling
To Prevent Immortality And Command Abuse, Armor Resistance Uses Automatic Diminishing Returns.
If:
R > 8
Then:
Final Chance = Final Chance ÷ 1.5
If:
R > 10
Then:
Final Chance = Final Chance ÷ (1.5 × Number Of Armor Pieces Worn)
Example:
R = 48
Base Chance = 480%
480 ÷ 7.5 ≈ 64%
This Ensures That Even Extremely High Values Remain Balanced.
More Resistance Does Not Mean Infinite Survivability.
Balance & Design Philosophy
Armor Resistance Was Designed Around Several Goals:
- Counter Extreme Burst Damage
- Preserve Vanilla Netherite Balance
- Prevent Immortality
- Keep Combat Skill-Based
- Reward Luck Without Guaranteeing Survival
Because Armor Resistance Uses Random Chance, Players Can Never Reliably Depend On It.
Even A Full Set Can Fail To Activate.
This Creates Intense Moments During Combat And Makes Every Fight Less Predictable.
