Audio Radar
See where sounds are coming from. Audio Radar reads the direction and distance of every sound your Minecraft client plays and sends it to the Audio Radar desktop app, which lights the LED bars around your monitor to match. A creeper hissing behind you lights the bars behind you. An arrow from the left lights the left.
Sounds are grouped into categories — hostile, passive, player, environment, mechanical, boss — and each gets its own colour, so you can tell what you heard as well as where. You choose the colours, and you can file any individual sound into any category, including sounds added by other mods.
You need the hardware
This mod on its own does nothing. It is the game-side half of a product:
- Audio Radar LED light bars, mounted around your monitor
- The Audio Radar desktop app (Windows), which the mod connects to
If you don't have those, this mod has nothing to talk to.
Requirements
| Minecraft | 1.21.1 (Java Edition) |
| Loader | Fabric |
| Fabric API | Not required |
| Java | 21+ |
| Side | Client only |
Setup
The app connects on its own, so there is nothing to configure. Open the Minecraft page in the Audio Radar app to pick your category colours.
Multiplayer and fair play
Client-side only. It observes sounds the game has already decided to play to you and never changes, adds, or reveals anything. It cannot tell you about a sound your client wasn't going to play anyway. Nothing is sent to the server, and other players are unaffected. It works on servers because it does not touch them.
Built for players who can't hear the game
Audio Radar exists for deaf and hard-of-hearing players. Positional audio is a real competitive and immersive advantage, and this puts it somewhere you can see it. It's just as useful with headphones off, or in a loud room.
