BackInPlace
BackInPlace is a client-side Minecraft MOD (Fabric) that remembers your inventory layout when you die. When you retrieve your dropped items, it automatically moves them back to their original slots.
Features
- Automatic Sorting: No more manual inventory reorganization after death.
- Selective Restoration: Configure whether to restore Hotbar, Armor, Offhand, or Main Inventory.
- Persistence: Death data is saved to a file, so it survives game restarts or crashes.
- Smart Recovery:
- Multiple Death Policies: Choose what to do if you die again before recovering (Keep data with most items, overwrite, or keep first).
- Auto-Clear: Automatically clears memory if you abandon recovery (e.g., carrying too many new items or after a timeout).
- Visual & Audio Feedback: Plays sounds and shows particles when items are restored.
- Client-Side Only: Works on any server as long as you have the mod installed on your client.
Commands
/backinplace status: Check the status of the saved death memory./backinplace clear: Manually clear the saved death memory.
Configuration
Accessible via Mod Menu (requires Cloth Config):
- Enable/Disable: Toggle the mod functionality.
- Slots to Restore: Separately enable Hotbar, Armor, Offhand, and Main Inventory restoration.
- Multiple Death Policy:
KEEP_MOST_ITEMS: Keeps the death record with the highest number of items.OVERWRITE_ALWAYS: Always updates with the latest death.KEEP_FIRST: Keeps the first death record until recovered or cleared.
- Recovery Timeout: Automatically clear memory after a set number of minutes.
