🩸 Better Blood Overlay
Every hit leaves a mark.
Better Blood Overlay turns damage into a real wound simulation. Get slashed across the back by a vindicator, and a bleeding cut appears exactly there — it drips down your body, dries to a brown crust, and washes off in water leaving a one-of-a-kind scar. No two wounds ever look the same: every single wound texture is generated at runtime from the hit itself.
✨ Features
🩸 True wounds, not overlays — every hit creates an individual wound at the actual hit position: right body part, right side, right height.
🎲 Procedurally generated — wound shapes, blood drips, splatter and scars are seed-generated per hit. Infinite variety, zero texture packs.
💉 Living blood — fresh blood runs downward pixel by pixel, dries to brown over time, and washes off in water or rain.
🔥 Damage types matter — weapons and arrows cut, fire and lava leave charred burns scattered across your body, fists leave bruises that age like real hematomas: purple → green → yellow.
🧟 Mobs bleed too — zombies, piglins, villagers, illagers and more carry wounds exactly like players (zombies bleed dark, rotten blood). Skeletons don't — bones don't bleed.
🌍 Environmental gore — blood pools grow on the ground under the wounded, heavy hits splatter nearby walls, fresh wounds drip particles, and your weapon stays bloody after a kill.
🖥️ Feel your damage — a red vignette closes in the more wounded you are, and heavy hits splatter blood across your screen.
🎚️ Your gore, your rules — a first-launch setup screen lets you pick a preset
(Realistic, RPG, Cinematic, Soft, Minimal) or build your own. Share your
preset as a short code with friends — or enforce one server-wide so every player
gets the same experience. Reopen anytime with /bloodsetup or the Blood...
button in Options.
📦 Installation
Install on client and server (singleplayer just works). No other mods required
