-
Added Palm Wood Type
The first of a number of woods added in this update, Palm trees generate naturally on beaches and are unique in that instead of saplings, they have Coconuts.
-
Added Coconuts
To reflect the incredible versatility of real-world coconuts, BFB's Coconuts can be used for a wide variety of purposes. They grow new Palm Trees when planted on Sand or Red Sand, but can also be milked, sheared (by a player or Dispenser) for Fibers which can be used for String, Brown Dye, Bundles, or new brown Coconut Thatch blocks, or crafted into Husks, which can be crafted into Bone Meal or cooked into Charcoal. And of course, you can eat them.
-
Added Maple Wood Type
Red Oak is no more; now there's a proper wood type associated with the tree! Maple Planks are a very pale pink-ish brown.
-
Added Beech Wood Type
This replaces Orange Oak and its Planks are pale orange.
-
Added Pine Wood Type
Found in the new Alpine Forest biome, Pine is a darker brown that's less saturated than the darker Vanilla offerings.
-
Added Cedar Wood Type
Also found in the Alpine Forest, Cedar Wood is yellow-y brown.
-
Added Hedges
This one has been on the planned features list forever; basically just Walls made out of leaves.
-
Added Antigorite
This pale green stone block acts like a fourth member of the Granite/Diorite/Andesite family, being found in blobs underground or crafted from Cobblestone and either Iron or Copper Ingots, and being able to be crafted into Stairs, Slabs, Walls, and Polished variants for each of those.
-
Added Polished Granite, Diorite, and Andesite walls
As I was making Polished Antigorite Walls I was surprised to realise the Polished Vanilla blocks lacked Walls specifically. So now they have them.
-
Added Sandstone and Red Sandstone Bricks
And the usual Cracked Bricks, Stairs, Slab, and Wall variants for each.
-
Added Cut Sandstone Stairs and Walls, and Smooth Sandstone Walls
Just more parity stuff, filling in gaps in Vanilla block families.
-
Added Cracked Grimstone Bricks and Tiles
Forgot these as part of the original Grimstone update, but now they're here!
-
Autumnal Forest now spawns Rusty Wolves
A more fitting camouflaged coat for the canines native to the biome.
-
Tweaked Scorchwood Tree generation
Nothing major, just some changes to make the small branches look a little more natural and less consistently spaced.
-
Tweaked Green Jungle Tree Generation
Can now spawn with Vines and Cocoa, and can grow a mega variant from a 2x2 Sapling formation, just like its regular Jungle counterpart.
-
Tweaked Cracked Red Nether Bricks texture
The cracks are now slightly less dark so they fit the texture better.
-
Tweaked Willow Leaves texture
Less huge gaps.
-
Tweaked Willow Door and Trapdoor textures
Shrank the gaps slightly and moved them together so the side of the door didn't look strange while opened.
-
Changed sounds for Bamboo Thatch blocks
They now share sounds with Hay blocks to better fit the idea that they're woven fibers rather than rigid wooden blocks.
-
Berry Bushes in Autumnal Forest now generate fully grown
-
Fixed Great Library advancement not working; Great Library now requires placing Palm, Maple, Beech, Pine, and Cedar Bookshelves
-
Fixed Grimstone Tile Slabs having no textures when doubled
-
Fixed Grimstone having the wrong map colour
-
Added several new advancements for the new content
Since it had taken longer than I'd have liked to get around to a new BFB update (combination of real life and modding time being spent on other projects - keep an eye on my profile for those!), I figured I'd make up for the delay by throwing in my entire planned features list plus the kitchen sink.
The woods added by BFB so far are great, but tended towards the more colourful end of the spectrum, so I took the opportunity to add several new shades of brown, which are always appreciated when building. Coconuts are super versatile; they'll be godsends in early game survival but their Fibers also made for a natural way to introduce brown variants to the growing Thatch family. Throw in finally adding Hedges, a new stone variant and the usual small Vanilla variant and parity additions and BFB now has over 300 blocks and items!
I still have a few ideas for future updates (definitely not done messing with the stone variants, and there's one big update I have in mind, though that might still be a ways off), but hopefully a content dump of this size should make up for how long 5.4.0 took and keep you busy for a while to come.
