Survive the Blood Plague
A mysterious and virulent blood infection has begun to sweep across the land. This plague is carried by a creeping, infectious block and a horde of corrupted creatures. There is no cure; there is only survival.
Key Features:
- The Infection Toxin: A dangerous new potion effect that constantly drains the health of those afflicted. This effect is applied to any living entity (excluding already infected mobs) that steps on an Infected Block. Additionally, infected mobs now have a 10% chance to apply this effect to players they attack.
- The Spreading Blight: A new block, the Infected Block, will give the Infection Toxin to any player or mob that steps on it. Beware, as this block will slowly spread across the world, drawn by the presence of nearby players. The spread rate increases when players are closer to existing Infected Blocks. The spread can be disabled via a game rule (
doInfectionSpread) for a less aggressive experience. - The Corrupted Horde: Once-passive creatures have been twisted into hostile monsters. Prepare to face off against aggressive, infected variants of Chickens, Pigs, Sheep, and Cows. These infected mobs will attack players and other living entities (excluding other infected mobs), can break doors and windows, and will persistently chase their targets. If a Chicken, Pig, Sheep, or Cow is killed by an infected mob or dies from the Infection Toxin, it has a chance to transform into its infected counterpart. Spawn eggs for all infected mobs, including the Infected Cow, are available and share a distinct black texture.
- Infected Flesh: A new item dropped by all infected mobs with a 10% chance (dropping 1-3 pieces). This item is used in crafting recipes.
- Handle: A crafting component that looks like a stick, crafted from a stick and a piece of wool.
- Infected Sword: A new weapon crafted from a Handle and two Infected Flesh. It uses a unique infected sword texture and applies the dangerous Infection Toxin to any entity it hits.
- A Glimmer of Hope: The Cure Potion: While the blood plague is deadly, a cure can be brewed to stave off the infection. The Cure Potion is a drinkable item that is consumed completely upon use. It can be crafted by brewing a Water Bottle with Rotten Flesh to create an initial Cure Potion. This initial potion can then be strengthened by brewing it with Bone Meal. Consuming the Cure Potion will remove the "Infected" status effect. It has a unique texture to distinguish it.
- Pure Survival: Your primary goal is to avoid the spreading infection and fight to survive against the corrupted horde. (more features such as more infected mobs will be added in the future)
