Cinematic Subtitles
Give discoveries, conversations and story moments their own voice on screen.
Cinematic Subtitles is a server-driven typewriter subtitle system for Forge integrations and scripts. It displays authored dialogue as cinematic notifications instead of relying on ordinary chat messages.
Features
- A title/speaker line and an optional dialogue line, using Minecraft text components.
- Adjustable typewriter speed, line delays, hold time and fade-in/fade-out timing.
- Importance levels and interruption handling for competing notifications.
- Grouped messages that integrations can cancel together, plus a clear action.
- Optional typing and completion sounds.
- Client accessibility settings for instant text, reduced animation, sound toggles and speed/duration multipliers.
- A Java API for sending messages to one player or a collection of players.

Release and requirements
Version 1.0.1 · Minecraft 1.20.1 · Forge 47.x · Java 17.
Install the base mod on the client and server for server-driven messages. Integrations or scripts decide when dialogue is shown; this base JAR does not invent quest dialogue or detect a modpack's story events by itself.
The Quest voice and history extension
The separate Cinematic Subtitles Log & Voices 1.3.0 JAR adds subtitle history and the current recorded Archive/Unwritten dialogue. Install it on the client alongside this base mod. Its description is included as Cinematic_Subtitles_Log_and_Voices.md.
The release includes both JARs so the base system and its voice extension are clearly separated. The optional integration archive supplies The Quest's event triggers and voice timing scripts; those scripts require KubeJS and the matching pack content.
