Compound V Refabricated 2.4.0 — Minecraft 1.20.1 (Fabric)
A major update: critical bug fixes, a full balance pass, a new HUD and new visual effects.
⚠️ Before updating
- Powers were never actually saved in 2.3.5, so in existing worlds every player will roll a new random power on their first join after updating.
- Laser heat settings in the config are reset to the new defaults.
✨ New
- Power HUD in the top-left corner: icon, name, cooldown bars for both abilities, heat gauge, buff timers and the Temp V countdown. Bars flash and a chime plays when an ability is ready.
- Secondary ability key
G: many powers now have a second ability. - New beams: soft glow, white-hot core, muzzle and impact flares, jagged lightning, webs, energy rings on chest blasts, flamethrower particles.
- Screen effects: charge ring around the crosshair, screen tint for overheat, rage and power suppression.
- Powers that used to do nothing now have real abilities:
- Telekinesis: grab a creature and throw it
- Spider: wall climbing and a web-zip
- Slime: bounce instead of taking fall damage
- Atomic Charge: hold the key to build up the charge
- Virus: infect with punches or a toxic cloud
- Starlight: charges energy in bright light
- Head Pop: keep your eyes on the target to pop it
- …and more
- Temp V is now actually temporary (5 minutes), then your previous power comes back.
- Virus Arrows work with bows and dispensers and apply the contagious Virus V effect.
/powers infois available to every player. For admins, power names now tab-complete, and/powers reloadand/powers player <name> cooldownswere added.- Full English and Russian translations; the guide book follows each player's game language.
⚖️ Balance
- No power grants full invulnerability anymore (some used to give Resistance V).
- Soldier Boy suppresses players' powers for 5 minutes instead of forever.
- Power damage against players is reduced (×0.6, configurable). Respects the server PvP setting and team friendly fire.
- Lasers: 4 s of heat, 8 s overheat (both configurable).
- Drugs appear in 25% of loot chests instead of every one. V1 only appears in Ancient Cities and End Cities.
- New Virus Arrow recipe: 8 arrows surrounding a Virus V Vial → 8 Virus Arrows.
🐛 Fixes
- Powers, locks, bans and cooldowns are saved with the world and survive server restarts.
- Holding the key no longer spams the server, and flight no longer toggles on and off by itself.
- Lasers no longer break chests or other important blocks. All block damage respects
mobGriefing, spawn protection and Adventure mode. - Milk and
/effect clearno longer remove your power permanently. Powers no longer wipe potions, beacon effects or flight granted by other mods. - Teleport and Black Noir's shadow step no longer put you inside walls.
- Abilities no longer hit through walls or pick random creatures.
- Fixed the key category names in Controls, config file encoding, and a broken recipe that logged an error on world load.
⚙️ Config
New options in config/compound_v_fabric.json:
- block damage from powers and whether powers affect players
- Temp V and Soldier Boy suppression durations
- chance of drugs in loot chests
- random power and guide book for new players
- HUD position and screen effects
- replacing the main menu logo
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
