Create: Cardboard Things

Create: Cardboard Things is a strange addon that adds 16 cardboard items inspired by the original Cardboard Sword from Create. The general idea is to take familiar Minecraft items and mess with some secondary part of how they normally work.

So, what is this mod?

What is Create: Cardboard Things?

A collection of cardboard versions of familiar items where the usual main function isn’t always the important part. The Cardboard Arrow, for example, deals no direct damage, but its knockback is much stronger than a normal arrow.

Why does it exist?

Mostly because i liked the idea behind Create’s Cardboard Sword and wanted to see what would happen if more items worked like that. There’s some useful stuff here too. Colored cardboard, for example, can be used to mark buttons and levers.

Okay... so what’s actually in it?

There are 16 cardboard things. Some are useful, some are stupid, and a few are probably both.

• Cardboard Elytra - you can keep flying with it until you land. Once your feet touch the ground, it’s done.
• Cardboard Arrow - deals no direct damage, but has very strong knockback. Mostly useful when you don’t really need to kill something, just remove it from your immediate area.
• Cardboard Pickaxe - slow, weak, and unbreakable. Useful for farms and other cases where durability matters more than mining speed.
• Cardboard Ball - deals real damage but almost no knockback.
• Cardboard Rocket - only works as an Elytra boost.
• Cardboard Saddle - for now, this is mostly a base for something i want to do with saddles later.
• Cardboard Totem - saves you from death and gives you a way to quickly get away from whatever nearly killed you.
• Cardboard Ingot - this one is directly connected to Create’s original Cardboard Sword. Use a Cardboard Ingot with the sword on an anvil and its knockback can be upgraded.

• Cardboard Shears - remove color from dyed cardboard. Mystery solved.
• Cardboard Trident - main rule: try not to get it wet. It can also be used in places where a normal Trident usually wouldn’t be very useful.

• Cardboard Bucket - looks like a bucket. Can’t actually hold fluids :)
• Cardboard Shield - this one is mostly about ricochet. And it can get pretty stupid.
• Cardboard Goggles - pair of goggles with a feature that can quite literally blow things away.
• Cardboard TNT - flashbang. That’s basically it.
• Cardboard Jukebox - changes how music discs sound when played through it.

Colored Cardboard

Can be placed on buttons and levers as colored markers. Useful when your redstone setup starts looking like something only its creator can understand.

Why I Made This

The idea came from Create’s Cardboard Sword. I liked that it wasn’t simply a worse version of a normal sword. It took one part of the item — knockback — and made that the interesting part instead. So i started doing the same thing with other items. Some ideas were useful, some were mostly jokes, and some ended up being both. That was pretty much the whole idea behind it: make cardboard versions of normal items and mess with the part nobody usually cares about.
