A Minecraft Forge 1.20.1 mod that adds a nuclear fission reactor. For GregTech CEu Modern. On its own this mod doesn't do much; it is best used when included in modpacks. No support for other mod loaders or Minecraft versions is currently planned. For modpack developers there is KubeJS support; also for custom fuels. There is also support for ComputerCraft and GT's own central monitor. Try it on TerraFirmaGreg-Modern 0.11!
In this mod:
- Two different sizes for the reactor multiblock using the GT multiblock system and hatches.
- Custom renderer that reacts to the current heat level.
- Different reactor fuels which generate heat (heat generator), and depleted outputs.
- The reactor is a "heat-battery" that slowly cools down on its own.
- Coolant-based per-tick operation with fractional number support (heat usage): the reactor takes an amount of input fluid, and "heats it" outputting another fluid.
- Material holder for heat-based crafting recipes and heat-level requirements like in the EBF (heat usage).
- Heat usage and fuel damage are proportional to current heat. The more fuel rods, the higher the max heat and worse the efficiency.
- Customizable reactor insides and stat-affecting component system (such as max heat capacity without overheating).
- Redstone output (heat and installed fuel).
- ComputerCraft and Central Monitor support.
- KubeJS support and examples (Recipes. New fuel rods. Components partially).
Thank you for choosing Dea (aka Vazde)! We hope you are happy with your newly 'purchased' nuclear fission reactor blueprints! The reactor represents weeks worth of cutting edge nuclear research, packaged in a neat GregTech CEu-Modern multiblock you can customize to your heart's (and blueprint's) desire! HAYO!
The fission reactor has three purposes!
- The nuclear reaction splits atoms to less heavy ones, producing rare elements from very affordable input elements. Think of all the possibilities!
- It produces heat. A lot of it. This can be used to convert coolant fluids to hotter fluids. For example water to steam. Or special coolant fluids to hot variants, which can be used to run high-power turbines. Who needs dirty coal! Or some smelly nitrated hydrocarbons. HAYO!
- The immense heat can be used to replace the energy-hungry Electronic Blast Furnace (EBF).
The operating principle of the reactor is as follows: each tick the installed fuel pellets in the reactor produce heat: the more pellets, the more heat. And the more heat, the more violent the reactions are, so the fuel gets used up faster! Depending on the goal given by your executives, this can be either a good or a bad thing - high heat produces new elements faster. If you on the other hand need to maximize your fuel efficiency and generate as much hot coolants as possible with little fuel, it's best to operate at a lower heat. We know it makes no sense. !OYAH
Please note that the universe of Minecraft is a strange place, and depending on in which galaxy (modpack) the reactor is installed in, it may operate wildly differently than described above. There's this certain spacetime anomaly "curve" - referred to in the holy scriptures as fi.dea.mc.deafission.core.ReactorCurve - which makes that happen. To go above and beyond the call of duty, a distinghuished engineer will study the scriptures to find the best possible reactor design. Just do it. It's not rocket science, after all!
Permission is granted to include this mod in modpacks, to make derivatives of the ReactorCurve for modpack purposes, and to reproduce and edit the code for mixin purposes. The code should be relatively well documented :)
Acknowledgements: This mod has been designed in collaboration with TerraFirmaGreg-Modern developers. I wish to thank for their insight. And thanks Tom for building a whole voltage tier worth of production chains in the modpack for this.
