Decorative Workstations

Ever built a nice dock with a few barrels, only for the whole thing to turn into a fisherman hangout? Or put together a library and ended up with five librarians camping in it? That's what this mod is for.

Instead of touching the vanilla blocks or their behavior, it adds purely decorative copies of them. The real blocks stay exactly as they are. The decorative versions just have their interactions stripped out, so you can decorate however you want without villagers moving in.

What's included

• A dedicated Creative tab for all the decorative blocks, separate from the vanilla ones.
• All 16 bed colors, decorative. No villager will ever sleep in them.
• Decorative versions of every job site block: barrel, bell, blast furnace, brewing stand, cartography table, fletching table, grindstone, lectern, loom, smithing table, smoker, cauldron, composter, and stonecutter.
• An Inspection Mode to quickly spot decorative blocks vs. the real ones, useful in big builds.

How it works

These blocks look and behave physically like the originals (same collision, same hitbox, same loot table), but they have no GUI, can't be slept in, and aren't recognized as job sites or points of interest. Neither players nor villagers can interact with them.

You craft each one by combining an Item Frame with the vanilla block. You can convert it back to the functional version at any point, but the Item Frame isn't returned. So switching back and forth costs a new frame each time.

Inspection Mode

• Off by default, needs to be turned on in the config file.
• No default keybind. Set one yourself in Options → Controls → Key Binds.
• On 26.1.2, shaders need to be disabled for it to work at all.
• On 26.2, it might work with shaders on, but that's not guaranteed across every shader pack.
• Either way, turning shaders off while using Inspection Mode is the safest bet.

A few notes

• Recipes, loot tables, and villager behavior have been tested on both new and existing worlds.
• Since the blocks use the standard rendering system, any resource pack should work fine with them.
• The original vanilla blocks are never modified. This only adds alternatives alongside them.

Installation

Fabric

• Install Fabric Loader for your Minecraft version.
• Grab the matching Fabric API version and drop it in your mods folder.
• Drop the mod's .jar in your mods folder.
• Launch with your Fabric profile.

NeoForge

• Install NeoForge for your Minecraft version.
• Drop the mod's .jar in your mods folder.
• Launch with your NeoForge profile.

Make sure you grab the file matching your Minecraft version (26.1.2 or 26.2). Check the download page if you're not sure.

Development

This is a personal project I work on in my free time. I pick which versions to support based on my own needs, so requests for ports to other versions won't be considered.

Before you uninstall

Remove or convert all decorative blocks first. Since they're custom blocks, removing the mod while they're still placed will turn them into air and can wreck your builds. Inspection Mode is the quickest way to track them all down beforehand.
