Dimension Notifier
Know which world your friends are in.
Your friends have split up between dimensions—the Overworld, Nether, and End. Check where they are without asking in chat, and choose how much detail you see when you travel yourself.

Features
Know where the group is
Press Tab to see which dimension each player is in. Before you head out to meet Mira, check whether she is still in the Nether or already back home.
Server feature · joining players need no mod

Aldren checks from the Overworld base: Mira is in the Nether while Kael is still in the Overworld.
Confirm your own arrival
Step through a portal and read a short notice above your hotbar. Optional coordinates help you note the arrival point; chat broadcasts can stay off for a quieter world.
Example: coordinates on · travel chat off

Only the arrival notice is enabled for this trip into the Nether; chat broadcasts are off.
Follow a friend’s journey
Stay at your base while Mira explores. An optional chat announcement tells you when she enters another dimension, so you know where the adventure has moved.
Example: observer in the Overworld · arrival notices off

From the Overworld base, Aldren sees Mira enter the Nether in chat. No arrival notice competes with it.
Quickstart
Dimension Notifier runs in Minecraft Java Edition with Fabric. Bedrock Edition is not supported. Choose a release for your Minecraft version; the examples on this page use 26.3.
I play solo
- Install Fabric Loader for your Minecraft version.
- Put this mod and Fabric API in your game’s
modsfolder. Add Mod Menu for the in-game settings shown above. - Launch the Fabric profile, open your world, then use Mods → this mod → Configure to choose your settings.
I host a server
Install Fabric Loader on the server, then put this mod and Fabric API in its mods folder and restart it. The server provides the shared features to joining players. To edit the server settings in game, install this mod, Fabric API, and Mod Menu on your computer too, then join with operator permission. You can also edit the server config file and restart the server.
I join someone else’s server
If the server has this mod, you can see its player-list labels, broadcasts, and arrival notices without installing it yourself. Install it on your computer for personal arrival-notice settings. A client-only install cannot add shared chat or player-list labels to a server.
Compatibility
Fabric API is required wherever this mod is installed. Mod Menu is optional and runs on your computer. In a solo world, your game also runs the world’s server, so you can use the shared features and edit their settings locally.
Feature-by-feature installation reference
| Feature | Singleplayer | Multiplayer with server mod | Client-only install |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dimension change messages | This world | Everyone sees the broadcast | Not available |
| Dimension action bar alerts | Client and Server Config | Server-provided by default; optional personal override | Personal arrival notice |
| Tab list dimension labels | This world | Server-controlled labels for everyone | Not available |
| Mod Menu settings | Client and Server Config | Client on this computer; Server Config with operator permission | Client Config only |
Make it yours
Want a quieter screen? Keep player-list labels, turn off travel chat, and choose whether your arrival notice includes coordinates. Mod Menu puts these choices in the game. Client Config follows the server by default; choose your own settings to override your personal arrival notice.
- Install Mod Menu alongside this mod and Fabric API on your computer.
- Open Mods → select this mod → Configure. Choose Client Config for personal display settings or Server Config for the world.
- Choose the controls you want and press Save. Server changes apply to the running world.
Mod Menu is optional client software and the main in-game settings entry. Install this mod, Fabric API and Mod Menu on your computer; open Mods, select the mod, then Configure.
Who can change what? Server Config controls the world hosted by this installation. You can edit a solo world; remote changes require the mod on the server and operator permission. Other players can inspect received settings. From the main menu, Server Config edits local hosting defaults, not a remote server.
Client Config affects this computer. Inherit from Server Config follows overlapping server settings; Enabled uses your personal values; Disabled turns off your client features. Locks identify inherited or unavailable controls. Client-only features remain personal. Child controls appear when their parent feature is enabled.
Save and recover. Changes stay in a draft until Save succeeds. Done asks before discarding an unsaved draft. Defaults resets the editable scope in the draft; press Save to apply it. Wait for pending saves to finish. If permission or connection is lost, read the status and reconnect or regain permission before retrying.
Settings reference
Feature modes · Personal and world
Enable the shared features for this world, or choose how your own arrival notices follow it.
Defaults: Server features are enabled. Client Config inherits.
Server Enabled/Disabled and Client Inherit/Enabled/Disabled are separate choices; disabling personal arrival notices does not hide shared chat or Tab labels.
Arrival notices · Personal and world
Show a short action bar notice when you change dimensions. Personal overrides apply only to you.
Defaults: Notices and dimension names are on; coordinates and short labels are off.
Show dimension-change action bar; Add dimension; Add coordinates; Use short labels. Detail controls depend on the notice being enabled.
Travel broadcasts · World
Tell other players when someone changes dimensions, independently of their personal arrival notice.
Defaults: Broadcasts on; coordinates, short labels and sending to the travelling player off.
Broadcast dimension changes; Add coordinates; Use short labels; Send to triggering player. Enabling the last option lets the traveller receive the chat line too.
Tab list labels · World
Show each player's current dimension beside their name for everyone on the server.
Defaults: Labels on, full names, no space before and one space after.
Enable dimension labels; Use short labels; Add space before; Add space after. Spacing helps compose these labels with other Tab decorations.
Try it in your world
These are instructions using existing controls, not preset buttons.
Quieter travel, with an arrival landmark
- Open Server Config → Broadcasts and turn off Broadcast dimension changes. The settings screenshot shows the starting controls before this change.
- Under Action Bar, keep the arrival notice enabled and turn on Add coordinates; Save. In Client Config, choose Inherit from Server Config, or enable the same arrival options for your personal override.
- Travel to another dimension. Keep Tab labels on to check where friends are without chat.
What you should see: The traveller sees their arrival coordinates while travel chat stays quiet.

Config file
After first launch, edit config/dimension-notifier.json. File edits need a game or server restart; Mod Menu changes apply immediately where editable.
