Donidin's Advanced Combat
Donidin's Advanced Combat is a combat overhaul focused on combos, weapon abilities, and generally beating the... stuff out of things.
The idea is pretty simple: hit enemies, don't get hit, keep your combo going, and become progressively more dangerous. Eventually, you'll reach BERSERK.
Combo & Ranks
Hitting hostile mobs builds your combo. Getting hit removes part of it, so try not to get hit. Pretty obvious, I know.
There are five combo ranks:
COOL -> AWESOME -> MADNESS -> ULTRAKILL -> BERSERK
Each rank has its own sound. Reaching Berserk gives you bonus damage, damage resistance, extra movement speed, a flame aura, a red pulse on the screen, and a special Berserk theme.
If your combo expires on its own, you also get some XP. So even if you screw up, you get something out of it.
Weapon Abilities
Every supported weapon has two abilities. Hold the weapon, build up some combo, and press R or G.
Both keys can be rebound, because obviously they can.
| Weapon | R | G |
|---|---|---|
| Sword | Shadow Dash | Blade Wave |
| Axe | Whirlwind | Battle Roar |
| Trident | Tidal Wave | Storm Call |
| Mace | Uppercut | Meteor Slam |
| Bow | Arrow Rain | Piercing Shot |
Abilities consume combo and have cooldowns. Their damage also scales with your current combo, so using them at x2 combo and x50 combo is... slightly different.
Passive Bonuses
Some weapons also get passive bonuses at certain combo counts:
- Sword: longer reach at x20 combo.
- Bow: double draw speed at x10 combo.
- Trident: faster throws at x20 combo.
- Axe: extra melee damage at x30 combo.
Because apparently having active abilities wasn't enough.
Configuration
Pretty much everything can be configured.
You can change the combo window, rank thresholds, Berserk threshold, damage penalty, XP rewards, passive bonuses, HUD position and scale, camera shake, audio, and the cost, cooldown, and damage of every single ability.
Server and client configs are separate, too.
