Dream Equipment is a Vanilla+ equipment expansion for Minecraft 26.1.2 on Fabric. It turns many familiar vanilla materials into armor, tools, weapons, spears, and shields — with material-themed stats, recipes, repair materials, fuel behavior, tooltips, and gameplay effects.

Instead of adding a separate tech tree, Dream Equipment builds on materials players already know: wood, stone, gems, redstone, prismarine, slime, glass, obsidian, amethyst, turtle shell, cactus, bone, paper, and more.

Showcase note: the cover image is stylized promotional artwork. In-game visuals are represented by the actual item, armor, and shield textures included in the mod.

Client/server support: install on both client and server for multiplayer. Singleplayer works with the normal Fabric client setup.

What does it add?

Material armor sets

Dream Equipment adds armor families for many vanilla materials, including:

• wood plank variants: oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove, cherry, pale oak, bamboo, crimson, warped
• log/stem/block variants: oak log, spruce log, birch log, jungle log, acacia log, dark oak log, mangrove log, cherry log, pale oak log, bamboo block, crimson stem, warped stem
• stone and rock variants: stone, cobblestone, mossy cobblestone, cobbled deepslate, blackstone, sandstone, red sandstone, end stone, tuff, calcite, granite, diorite, andesite, basalt, smooth basalt, dripstone block, netherrack
• special materials: cactus, armadillo shell, bone, paper, glass, obsidian, lapis, redstone, quartz, amethyst, prismarine, slime, coal, turtle shell, emerald

Tools, weapons, and spears

Selected materials gain tools and weapons where they make sense. The mod includes:

• swords, pickaxes, axes, shovels, hoes, and spears where appropriate
• vanilla-style item tags for better recognition by animation/combat mods
• custom spear render/in-hand model split following Minecraft 26.1 conventions
• balanced durability and mining tiers so brittle/stone/high-value materials do not become unintended progression skips

Shields

Dream Equipment includes custom shields for all current material families plus vanilla-material shield-only families:

• copper shield
• golden shield
• diamond shield
• netherite shield

The vanilla shield crafting recipe is intentionally disabled to avoid conflicts with Dream Equipment shield recipes. Existing vanilla shields remain valid items.

Custom shields use material-adapted shield base textures and vanilla-like blocking behavior. Netherite shield is tuned to be very strong, fire-resistant, and durable without becoming unlimited.

Material effects and mechanics

Some equipment has simple but flavorful mechanics. Examples include:

• Cactus armor/shield: retaliates against attackers.
• Paper armor/shield: weak in wet/rain conditions.
• Glass gear/shield: brittle and can shatter under heavy hits.
• Slime armor/shield: bounce, fall utility, and elastic blocking behavior.
• Redstone equipment/shield: emits short redstone pulses in controlled situations.
• Amethyst equipment/shield: sonic-boom interaction.
• Prismarine equipment/shield: water-focused effects.
• Lapis armor: enchanting-table lapis refund at armor durability cost.
• Stone-like armor: density/fragility-inspired behavior.
• Turtle shell set: uses the vanilla turtle helmet with custom turtle chest/legs/boots.

Effect values are JSON-driven through set_effects.json.

Recipes, repair, and fuel

• Recipes are generated from material family data and tuned per material where needed.
• Repair materials are data-driven and accept natural alternatives where appropriate, such as block/item forms and vanilla log tags.
• Wood, log, stem, bamboo-block, and coal equipment can be used as furnace fuel where it makes material sense.
• Vanilla shield crafting is disabled because Dream Equipment provides material-specific shield recipes.

Visual style

Dream Equipment uses vanilla-inspired item definitions, models, equipment layers, and shield rendering conventions.

• Plank armor worn layers use component-local vanilla plank mapping.
• Log/stem armor uses vanilla-source material fills.
• Shields use custom material-adapted base textures while keeping vanilla shield geometry.
• Textures are original generated/redrawn assets, with no copied third-party All Rights Reserved mod textures.

Recommended testing notes

After installing, check:

1. Creative combat/tools tabs for new items.
2. Representative recipes from each material category.
3. Armor worn visuals, especially wood/plank/log families.
4. Shield blocking behavior and shield material effects.
5. Redstone shield/gear pulse behavior near redstone dust or lamps.
6. Repair/fuel behavior for wood/log/coal and shield items.

Known limitations

• Custom shield rendering still uses vanilla shield geometry and a targeted renderer mixin for material base textures.
• Banner decoration behavior on custom shields should be tested carefully in modpacks; material base rendering is prioritized.
• The mod targets Minecraft 26.1.2 and Java 25; older Minecraft/Java versions are not supported.
