Earthquake Mod - Deep Destruction
If you're here, you're probably tired of "earthquake" mods that just shake your screen and call it a day. I wanted to create something that actually feels dangerous—where the ground doesn't just rumble, it rips open.
The Main Idea
I built this because I wanted realistic geological events. When an earthquake hits in this mod, it carves actual fissures into the terrain.
- It goes deep: Depending on how hard you crank the settings, these cracks can go from surface-level scratches to massive chasms 200 blocks deep.
- Physics: Blocks don't just vanish; they crumble. You'll see debris falling into the cracks as they form.
Performance
Let's be real: destroying thousands of blocks in seconds usually kills a server. I spent a lot of time optimizing this so it doesn't turn your PC into a heater.
- No Particles: I made the decision to completely remove particle effects. I know, visuals are cool, but maximum FPS is cooler.
- Safety Limits: I added hard caps to the code so even if you go crazy with the intensity, the mod tries to stop the server from lagging out.
Recommendations & Dependencies
Embeddium (Highy Recommended): While not strictly required, I strongly suggest running this with Embeddium. It handles rendering way better than vanilla, and when you're tearing up chunks of the map, you'll want that extra stability.
Commands:
/earthquake start- Fires a standard quake./earthquake start <intensity> <duration> <radius>- Custom settings./earthquake stop- Panic button to stop the destruction.
Requirements: Forge 1.20.1 (Java 17+)
