Enchantments are an important part of Minecraft, but they are also one of the most frustrating experiences. No matter how you choose to go about it, the experience is tedious and grindy.
This mod sets out to change this. No more villager trading halls, and gone are the days of rerolling at the enchantment table.
Instead, just place a Chiseled Bookshelf near the Enchantment Table. Just like how you would with normal Bookshelves in the past. Then, put enchanted books inside. Now you can enchant your gear based on those books! And it doesn't consume them!
But how do you get enchanted books? Well, that depends. But generally, the idea is that they are obtained in a way that is balanced around their strength and use-case. This aims to make progression more spread-out. Read on to find out more about each enchantment!
Unbreaking
As a very fundamental enchantment, Unbreaking is supposed to be universally available independent of the player style. Therefore, I decided to make this the only enchantment obtained by trading. Librarians will trade for Unbreaking I books for 16 emeralds.
Efficiency, Fortune and Silk Touch
Since all of these relate to tools, you make these by crafting a book surrounded by a certain material. For Efficiency, this is gold ingots. For Silk Touch, it is Blocks of Lapis Lazuli. And for Fortune, it is Enchanted Amethyst Shards. Enchanted Amethyst Shard is a new item that is crafted with 9 Amethyst Shard.
Protection and Sharpness
Again, these are very fundamental for any player! That's why you can often find them as loot in any chest of structures that at least pose some kind of challenge! So Mineshafts, Ocean Ruins, Desert Pyramids, but also Bastions, Fortresses and End Cities. And many more! Just explore your world :)

Anvil changes!
Due to the new nature of enchanted books, they can no longer be combined with gear in anvils.
However, you can still combine enchanted books with each other (and it is required to get higher levels). And doing so does not cost levels!
The anvil also has a new way of repairing gear: Enchanted nether quartz! Just like with the other two new items, enchanted nether quartz is made by combining 9 nether quartz in a crafting table.
This replaces Mending as the main way to repair your gear, aiming to be less grindy. While it isn't the easiest to obtain, it should even take less time than afking at your monster farm. The nice thing about nether quartz is also that it is renewable, since Piglins trade it to you. So if you have a gold farm, you can easily get lots of nether quartz!
Other changes
The enchantment table no longer consumes Lapis Lazuli. However, enchanting will now start a timer for the duration of which you can not enchant again. This is supposed to make enchanting a more special action that is done with more care, rather than immediately upgrading all of your gear at once. The time of the cooldown depends on the strength of your enchantments.
aaand some general stuff:
if you have suggestions on how to improve this mod, send me an email to enchantmentsintegrated@proton.me! also use this email to tell me bugs or if you just wanna tell me that you like the mod!
everyone is allowed to copy both the idea of this mod as well as any code or anything else. so if i ever stop maintaining it, anyone is free to continue the project! (or if you just want to make an alternative version)
the point of this is to make minecraft more fun, so why would i want to gatekeep anything, right?
Also, this mod changes both Client and Server side things, so I don't know how it behaves in Multiplayer. So it is singleplayer-only!
i think thats it, alright have fun everyone!
