FAQ

Q: What's changed compared to Extended Caves?

A: Core parts of the mod have been stripped and rewritten to help fix a number of bugs from the original, as well as making it easier to maintain. The 1.16 version remains compatible with worlds that used Extended Caves, while future Minecraft versions feature new content.

Q: Can I use the 1.16 version in existing Extended Caves worlds?

A: The 1.16 version is specifically designed to be backward compatible with Extended Caves version 2.4, existing worlds will have no problems loading, only a few minor recipe changes were made.

Q: 1.18 when?

A: An initial alpha build has been released, its unfinished but this is a start.

Q: Will new content from 1.18 come to 1.16?

A: If any additions make sense, they may make their way back down to 1.16 however this will likely be rare.

Q: What's new in 1.18

A: 1.18 is still work in progress, right now it contains mostly the 1.16 features (some renamed) and some features have been modified or removed to work better with 1.18. I am strongly considering digging into cave biomes and also some content for the nether.

Q: Broken stone is annoying me, can I disable it?

A: Broken stone can be disabled in config. I'm working on designing a more satisfying mechanic soon that will make it easier to strategize around, this'll come to both 1.16 and 1.18 versions of the mod.

Q: Ores look really odd in 1.18, could you add variants to make stuff blend in?

A: I'm currently looking into ways to make ores look less odd, no idea if anything will come from this however.

Q: Will there be any new structures? A: Not in 1.16, but I will revise structures in 1.18.

Q: Will there be a fabric port? Can I port it to fabric?

A: I do not plan to do a fabric port at this time, I'd like to get the mod working perfectly on Forge and I don't have the time to support both. This mod's code is All Rights Reserved so please do not port to fabric yourself. No port will be made available for 1.16 (and the mod is All Rights Reserved, so don't go making your own still) however a 1.18.2 port to fabric is in the pipeline.
