Structure Overhaul Alpha 1

This is the first in a series of alpha releases that will be focusing on updating and overhauling structure generation in Frostiful for 1.21. These releases are marked as alpha as they are incomplete, and will eventually begin to rely on experimental features from 1.21 (such as vaults). This is not recommended for use in production mod packs, but any feedback on the changes would be appreciated!

Chillager Outposts

Chillager Outposts are a new structure that generate in snowy areas with a similar rarity as Igloos. Like Pillager Outposts, they do not generate near villages. Chillager Outposts are a new earlier game structure that comes with a few Chillagers that do not respawn. Some Chillager Igloos also will generate with Fur Upgrade Templates, allowing you to craft Fur Padded Chainmail Armor before reaching a Frostologer Castle.

Most importantly, Chillager Outposts also have a new Explorer Map to help locate the now quite rare Frostologer Castle. This is to help balance out its rarity while still allowing it to be fairly straightforward to find.

  • Fixed mount health not rendering when player is warm

Updates Frostiful to 1.20.4, with a few backend changes.

Changelog:

  • Updated to Minecraft 1.20.4
  • Removed Fabric ASM usage, and replaced its usage with the new Fabric Enchanting API. This should mean that Frostiful will generally work a lot better with other mods, and possibly with Connector when that updates to 1.20.4.
  • Fixes #38: Incompatibility with VanillaIcecreamFix
  • Fixes #39: Incompatibility with Lucky Blocks Mod
  • Moved to using Thermoo Item Attribute Modifiers for armours with Frost Resistance.
  • Removed Netherite Frost Resistance config
  • Added passive freezing tick interval config. This allows passive freezing to only be applied once every N ticks (default 1).
  • The strength of a wind blowing the player now factors in Knockback Resistance (Closes #69... nice)
  • Added passive freezing tick interval config option

  • Fixed a crash on servers with Fabric Loader 0.15+
  • Increased required Thermoo version to 2.3
  • Added temperature display on the mount health bar

Patch update to fix a couple of compatibility issues and also to use new Thermoo APIs.

  • Fixes #70 - Unclear mixin crash with some (still unknown) mod
  • Fixes #71 - Conduits cause excessive heat with Scorchful
  • Use a different mob conversion method from Chillager -> Frostologer conversion that does not require explicitly invoking the Fabric API event
  • Reduced required Fabric API version to 0.91 so this version is compatible with QSL.
  • Increased required Thermoo version to 2.2
  • Updated heart bar overlay and seasons integration to use Thermoo APIs
  • Added some extra links in Mod Menu

This is a small update to add compatibility with a new Fabric API feature.

NOTE FOR QUILT USERS: Use version 1.0.5 instead, as that version is basically the same, minus this one feature that is not currently supported by QSL. If/when QSL is updated then this file with be marked as Quilt compatible.

  • Invoke the Fabric API MOB_CONVERSION event when the Chillager is converted into a Frostologer by lightning.

This update primarily focuses on improving integration for the upcoming Scorchful mod (currently in review).

  • Allow passive freezing to occur in warm areas. Previously Frostiful blocked it outright, which broke Scorchful's passive heating.
  • Allow passive freezing if the player is wearing a Cloak of Frostology, even if it is otherwise disabled.
  • Added a description to the doPassiveFreezing gamerule for the world creation screen.
  • The night-time temperature shift is now based on the presence of sunlight. That means that even during the day, caves will be as cold as night.
  • The default wind spawn strategy has been changed to POINT for increased performance (though ENTITY is still the primary intended setting).
  • Integrated Croptopia food and drinks to the warm foods mechanic, where it makes sense.
  • Allows the frostiful:powder_snow_walkable tag to work on items equipped any armor slot (not just feet).
  • Made Leather Horse Armour prevent horses from sinking in Powder Snow (fixes a compatibility issue with Superb Steeds)

Doggies now get brushies!

A few updates to help improve mod compatibility and also a change to the Polar Bear shearing mechanic.

  • Made the Frostologer and their minions friendly to the Illager Origin (from Mob Origins)
  • Switched to a tag based system for frost resistant armors
  • Space Suits from Ad Astra now provide Frost Resistance
  • Deprecated Item Attribute Modifiers
    • This functionality will work but is no longer supported as it desyncs on multiplayer servers. I plan to add this functionality to Thermoo anyway, with proper synchronization.
  • Single Layers of Packed Snow now decay into Snow randomly
  • Polar Bears can now be Brushed instead of Sheared, and no longer take damage from Brushing (but they still get angry)
  • Ocelots and Wolves can now also be brushed
    • Wild Wolves will anger when brushed
  • Updated Russian translations (Tefnya, #58)
  • Fixed a crash with Farmer's Delight on Dedicated Servers

This is a small update to improve on some of the compats and integrations added in 1.0.0.

  • Fixed Hot Cocoa from Farmer's Delight not granting Warmth
  • Added Warmth to Spectrum's Hot Chocolate
  • When Fabric Seasons is enabled, summer will now make freezing biomes slightly warmer, and removes the night time chill effect.
  • Added more tags to control biome temperature. See the wiki for more information.

  • Added Snowflake Banner Pattern, crafted from Packed Snowballs
  • Added icicle patches to caves in snowy biomes
  • Fixed a crash when starting a server
  • Added a new texture for the Frost Wand item
  • Added a new texture for the Frost Wand spell
  • Added integrations for warm foods from Farmer's Delight, Farmer's Respite, Festive Delight, and Frozen Up. Warm foods and drinks now give 60 seconds of Warmth when consumed.
  • Added an integration for Fabric Seasons that makes winters to be extra cold.
  • Updated Thermoo
  • Optimized temperature effect ticking to only tick for specific entity types

Shiver me timbers!!

In preparation for Scorchful, this update overhauls the back end temperature calculation system and introduces some new quality of life mechanics. This should make general survival in Frostiful easier, but this has been balanced out by making the Frostologer more difficult.

Changelog:

  • Added Shivering. When the player is more than 50% cold, they begin shivering, which provides a small amount of warmth at the cost of hunger.
  • Most snowy biomes now have an ambient temperature of -1 during the day.
  • Biomes with the tag frostiful:freezing_biomes now have an ambient temperature of -3 during the day.
  • Fixed an issue where some data fields on living entities could randomly desynchronize
  • Fixed compatibility with Colourful Hearts
  • Added regeneration to the Frostologer at 100% cold
  • Fixed the minimum temperature for Frostologers, Chillagers, and Biters

Backport of a desync fix for 1.19.2

  • Fixed data sync randomly breaking when class initialization order does not match on client and server.

Minor update to backport the doSnowPacking config option to 1.19.2

Updating Thermoo...

This update makes Frostiful compatible with Thermoo 2.0.0, which brings many backend updates, including moving many of the environment configs from Thermoo back to Frostiful.

Changelog:

  • Added a config option to disable heavy entity snow packing
  • Added a new way to spawn freezing wind that is (hopefully) more performant on servers
