Changes
Added
- Full server sync: the server now broadcasts other players' light sources to your client, so other players' lights update correctly when the mod is installed on the server too (new "Server Sync" config option).
- Powered redstone now emits light: active redstone wire, repeaters, comparators, levers and buttons light up the blocks around them ("Powered Redstone Lights" config option).
- Glowing / on-fire entities emit light: blazes, magma cubes, glow squids, allays, spectral arrows, fireballs, charging creepers and any mob on fire ("Entity Lights" config option).
- Luminous dropped items render with a soft blue outline so they're easier to spot.
- Color/generic lighting boost hook (LightEngine / BlockLightEngine) so injected lights are rendered using Minecraft's real light renderer.
Changed
- Held-item detection is now fully generic: any block item whose block gives off light glows, covering every vanilla and modded light source automatically (no hardcoded whitelist).
- Eye-level light placement falls back to a nearby air block when your body is in tall grass, bamboo, sugar cane etc., so the light stays steady.
- Held light is snuffed out when fully submerged underwater, like a real torch (wading in shallow water still works).
- Lights only ever displace air, water, or partial blocks — real placed blocks are never overwritten or destroyed.
- Lights automatically refresh every few ticks to keep glowing even when the server overwrites light data, and restore cleanly when you move away.
Fixed
- Held light no longer strobes or vanishes when standing inside partial blocks (grass, slabs, snow layers, ...).
- Doors and trapdoors are no longer broken or displaced by fake lights.
- Dropped item lights are properly removed when items despawn, get picked up, or leave range.
- Config now correctly reloads from file on startup.
Config
- Added in-game config screen and four toggles in config/dynamiclightsmod.properties: enabled, poweredLighting, entityLighting, serverSync.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
