🧠 Intrusive Thoughts
You're not alone in there. Intrusive Thoughts gives your Minecraft character a living, AI-powered inner voice — a second personality sharing your skull that reacts to everything you do, talks back when you talk to it, gets bored, holds grudges, remembers your whole journey, and (if you let it) speaks out loud. It's not a chatbot bolted onto the game; it's the running commentary in the back of your head finally given a microphone.
Singleplayer, client-side, and free.
✨ What it does
- 🗣️ A real inner voice — never-repeats itself, reacts to the actual moment, and roasts you (affectionately) when you do something dumb. It knows it is you: your wins are our wins.
- 👀 It sees everything you do — mining, building (it'll guess you're making an iron farm), the chest you just opened, villager trades, enchants, what you're holding, your biome, the Nether, your durability, the mob that's been bullying you...
- 💀 It reacts to the big moments — kills (with revenge if the mob hit you first), deaths (it knows who killed you and roasts the replay), boss fights, your first diamond, taming a pet — and mourns that pet when it dies.
- 🧠 It has a memory and a mood — frustration, confidence and fear build up and fade; it remembers your deaths, your nemesis (the mob that kills you most), and writes a session diary you can actually read, then greets you next time with "yesterday."
- 🏃 It watches your habits — run in circles and it wonders if you're bored or losing it; grind the same thing too long and it loses its mind; and it'll randomly ask you to do things ("can we get a dog. please.").
- 🎙️ Talk to it with your real voice — hands-free. Just speak; it hears you, answers back, and keeps the conversation going.
- 🔊 It speaks out loud — hear your intrusive thoughts through text-to-speech.
🚀 Getting started
- Install Fabric API + this mod into your
modsfolder (Minecraft 1.20.1). - (Optional but recommended) Install Mod Menu + Cloth Config to configure everything in-game.
- Launch the game. It works out of the box with a big bank of built-in lines — no setup, no account, totally safe-for-stream (swearing is off by default).
That's it. For the full AI experience, add a free Groq key 👇
🔑 Free AI setup (Groq) — 2 minutes
The AI brain runs on Groq, which has a genuinely free tier — no credit card required.
- Go to console.groq.com/keys and sign in.
- Click Create API Key, copy it (it starts with
gsk_...). - Open Mods → Intrusive Thoughts → ⚙️ (or edit
config/intrusivethoughts.json) and paste it into Groq API key. - Done — it's now thinking with a real LLM.
Is it free? Yes. The brain and voice-input transcription run on Groq's free tier (rate-limited but plenty for solo play). The default text-to-speech uses your computer's built-in voice, which is 100% free and offline. So the whole loop — hear you, think, talk back — costs $0.
🎙️ Voice (optional)
Hear it talk — set Speak out loud (TTS) on. The default Windows voice is free and offline. (Prefer a nicer neural voice? Switch the engine to Groq — it's a fraction of a cent per line.)
Talk to it — set Voice input on (needs your Groq key + a mic). By default it's hands-free: just start talking and it listens, no key to hold. Pick your microphone right in the config, or switch to push-to-talk and bind a key. 🎧 Headphones recommended so it doesn't hear its own voice.
⚙️ Make it yours
Everything is tweakable in the in-game menu: give it a name (or just tell it in chat — "I'm calling you Gerald from now on"), set its personality ("sarcastic and tired", "hyper gremlin"), turn swearing on/off, change how chatty it is, and more. Type voice stats in chat any time for a brutally honest "therapy session" about your whole relationship.
