🥗 L'DieDiet
L'DieDiet is a food boredom system for Minecraft, specifically designed to integrate with the Diet mod. It encourages players to diversify their diet by introducing a food habituation system and custom food groups.
Key Features
- Boredom Stages: The more you eat the same food, the less beneficial it becomes. There are 5 stages in total — from "Fresh" to complete disgust.
- Penalties: At higher stages, food restores less hunger and saturation, and also stops providing beneficial effects.
- Diet Mod Integration: The mod takes your Diet stats into account and adjusts them. If you eat the same thing repeatedly, your progress in the Diet mod will slow down.
- Reward System: By maintaining a diverse diet over a long period, you can gain unique buffs.
Boredom Stages
The L'DieDiet system divides the "boredom level" of each food item into 5 stages (0-4). Progress depends on how many times in a row (or in your eating history) you have consumed the same item.
Stage Mechanics (default)
| Stage | Name | Characteristics and Penalties |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | Fresh | Food provides 100% of its benefits. All positive effects are applied normally. |
| 1 | Enough | -25% penalty to hunger and saturation restoration. You are getting used to the taste. |
| 2 | Boring | -50% to hunger/saturation. Buffs are disabled: any magic or bonuses from this food no longer work. |
| 3 | Disgusting | -75% to hunger. -50% penalty to stat growth in the Diet mod. Saturation barely increases. |
| 4 | Revolting | -100% Diet stat gain (stats do not grow at all). Hunger is restored to the bare minimum. |
Stages decrease over time, which is regulated by RECOVERY_TIME_TICKS + RECOVERY_MULT_2_STATS.
DYNAMIC THRESHOLDS - Stage transition dependence on Diet mod attributes
Example:
Plain Apple: Gives only 1 stat in Diet (Fruit). The mod uses the basic threshold list: [5, 12, 20, 30].
Complex Stew: Gives, for example, 3 stats in Diet (Grains, Protein, Vegetables). Config: THRESHOLDS_3_STATS - [8, 18, 28, 40].
VARIETY BONUS - Faster stage recovery based on diet diversity
How the bonus is calculated: The mod looks at your history of recently eaten foods (history length is set in REWARD_HISTORY_LENGTH) and counts unique items in it.
Formula: Multiplier = 1.0 + (Unique_Count * VARIETY_RECOVERY_BONUS_PER_FOOD).
Let's say the bonus for each unique product = 0.1 (10%). You have eaten 5 different types of food. Multiplier = 1.5. Base recovery time is 10 minutes. Recovery time with a diverse diet will be 10 / 1.5 = 6.6 minutes.
Everything you can configure:
# Basic stage thresholds
# Hunger restoration multipliers by stages
# Full recovery time in ticks
# Minimum amount of hunger that food always restores
# Number of recently eaten foods remembered for rewards
# Apply boredom penalty to saturation
# Enable integration with the Diet mod
# Apply boredom penalty to Diet stats at stage 3+
# Enable bonus thresholds for foods with multiple Diet stats
# Foods with more stats get higher stage thresholds
# Enable recovery time penalty for foods with multiple Diet stats
# Foods with more stats recover slower
# Diet stat multipliers by boredom stages
# Stage 3: positive Diet stat multiplier
# Stage 3: negative Diet stat multiplier
# Stage 4: positive Diet stat multiplier
# Stage 4: negative Diet stat multiplier
# Bonus stage thresholds for foods with multiple Diet stats
# Thresholds for foods with 2 Diet stats: [stage1, stage2, stage3, stage4]
# Thresholds for foods with 3 Diet stats
# Thresholds for foods with 4 Diet stats
# Thresholds for foods with 5 Diet stats
# Recovery time penalties for foods with multiple Diet stats
# Recovery time multiplier for foods with 2 Diet stats
# Recovery time multiplier for foods with 3 Diet stats
# Recovery time multiplier for foods with 4 Diet stats
# Recovery time multiplier for foods with 5 Diet stats
# Variety bonus - accelerated recovery for varied food
# Recovery speed bonus for each unique product at stage 1+
Custom Food Groups
By default, there are 17 groups that demonstrate the mod's functionality:

Guide to creating datapacks for L'DieDiet
Datapacks allow you to configure food groups, rewards for activating them, and exceptions from the boredom system.

- Effects
Inside the
effectsarray, you can define various bonuses or penalties. Common effect fields:
duration_type(ortype):"fixed"— effect for a fixed amount of time."until_death"— permanent effect until death."until_death_intermittent"— permanent, but works in intervals (flickers)."history_intermittent"— works as long as the player's history contains food from this group.

- Exclusions
Exclusion files are located at:
data/<namespace>/exclusions/<file_id>.json.
Here you can forcefully set the boredom stage for specific items (for example, so that a food is always considered "boring" or, conversely, "fresh").
{
"overrides": {
"minecraft:rotten_flesh": 4,
"minecraft:golden_apple": 0
}
}
Items can also be excluded entirely via the item tag: data/ldiediet/tags/items/excluded_foods.json.
Advancements
When adding your own custom advancements, you can link the advancement grant to a group. To do this, create an advancement using this template:
