A client-side Fabric companion for Matcha Flavoured. Choose individual Matcha textures, browse custom items in Creative, find recipes with built-in JEI, and explore a larger advancements menu.
Matcha's bundled artwork comes from Klei Wright and the upstream contributors. Please support Klei if you enjoy their work.
Supports Matcha 1.03, 1.12, 1.12.5 and 1.12.7-beta in one Companion JAR. Install Matcha separately as a world datapack or its official Fabric mod. Matching resource assets and JEI are included.
Supported Matcha versions
You do not need a different Companion download for each supported Matcha version:
- Matcha 1.03
- Matcha 1.12
- Matcha 1.12.5
- Matcha 1.12.7-beta
Use the Minecraft version required by your chosen Matcha release. Compatibility with other Matcha versions is not currently established.
How automatic detection works
Install Matcha as its official mod JAR or as a world datapack ZIP/folder. The Companion detects the supported version and selects its matching item catalogue and visual assets.
An enabled world datapack takes priority over an installed Matcha mod. This lets different worlds use different supported Matcha versions with the same Companion installation. The selection updates when you change worlds, without restarting Minecraft, and settings show the detected version and source.
On multiplayer servers, detection uses recognised Matcha content sent by the server. If a supported version cannot be identified, the Matcha catalogue and visual layers remain inactive.
The latest supported artwork is prepared at startup. Each world's confirmed version is remembered and revalidated during joining; necessary resource changes finish before play. Leaving a world clears its catalogue while retaining its artwork, avoiding a delayed extra loading screen.
Detection controls which compatibility profile the Companion uses; it does not change which gameplay datapacks Minecraft loads.
Features
- Automatic per-world compatibility: selects matching Matcha catalogues and assets during joining, remembers each world, and clears its catalogue on exit without reloading artwork.
- Expanded advancements: a much larger responsive advancement window with Matcha styling, while keeping screen margins. Open it with Minecraft’s existing rebindable L shortcut.
- Individual visual choices: switch modified blocks, world objects, mobs, items, tools, weapons and armour between Matcha and Vanilla appearances.
- Searchable texture browsers: compare Matcha and Vanilla previews before saving your choices.
- Clear resource-save feedback: keep the settings page visible with an animated Applying textures indicator, real progress, and Matcha's brown button styling and shadow instead of the red Mojang screen.
- Visual presets: use All Matcha or Vanilla Visuals + Matcha Custom Content, or create, rename, import and export personal presets.
- Creative catalogue: adds finished Matcha item variants to Minecraft's existing Creative categories with their source components, names and models.
- Built-in JEI: search Matcha items and browse recipes with Matcha-themed buttons. Recipe-browser visibility and Matcha catalogue entries have separate controls. Compatible standalone JEI installations share one browser instance.
- Independent interface controls: configure HUD, containers, Creative/recipe-book screens, advancements, widgets and ordinary Minecraft terminology separately. Required custom-content assets and names stay available.
- Quick access: open settings from the Matcha blossom button on the title/pause menus or from Mod Menu.
- Optional experimental-warning shortcut: skip the experimental-world confirmation associated with the datapack.
User-selected resource packs take priority over the Companion's visual layers. Done in a texture browser saves and applies its choices immediately; Cancel exits and discards unconfirmed edits. The main Save Changes button applies other staged settings. The Companion does not edit your worlds or gameplay datapack, and it does not need to be installed on the server.

Installation
- Install Fabric Loader 0.19.5+ and Java 25+ for your Minecraft version.
- Install Fabric API, YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL), Mod Menu and MezzConfig GUI for that Minecraft version.
- Put the Companion JAR in the client's
modsfolder. - Install one of the supported Matcha versions as its official mod JAR or a datapack ZIP/folder in the world. Install Matcha’s gameplay data on the server for multiplayer.
- Open settings through the blossom button or Mod Menu to see the detected Matcha version and customise your experience.
No separate Matcha resource pack or JEI installation is needed. A second full Matcha resource pack can override the visual controls. When using the official Matcha mod, its fixed client artwork is replaced by the Companion’s configurable visuals.
JEI recipe discovery is verified in singleplayer. Multiplayer recipe discovery depends on server-side recipe availability and is not guaranteed. An outdated standalone JEI/MezzConfig may need updating or removing before Fabric can launch.
