MCXR Play is currently the only way to play Minecraft in VR on Fabric.
Thanks to Sodium and Iris it is also the most performant Minecraft VR mod (on the majority of systems) and it is designed to be as minimally invasive as possible to maintain compatibility with other Fabric mods.
MCXR and the OpenXR ecosystem are still fairly young so there are a few rough spots that need working out.
Notable Features
- Ability to pause or disable VR at any time and switch to 'Pancake' mode
- Ability to scale the player using Pehkui compat
- Basic roomscale features when MCXR Core is installed on the server
- Roomscale movement and crosshair even when MCXR Core is not on the server
- Standalone Quest support with QuestCraft
Known Issues
- Canvas is incompatible with MCXR Play
- MCXR Play crashes on SteamVR on Linux, this can be mitigated with an OpenXR Layer
- There is no way to rebind controls, in time this will also be fixed with an OpenXR Layer
- There is no teleport button
- The title screen does not work in VR, to actually start VR load a world from the Pancake GUI or install Title Worlds
Warning: Due to issues with LWJGL's default allocator it is recommended you always install Sodium alongside MCXR Play, even if you don't want it for some reason
