Bedrock Allow Deny Border
A faithful, client-side Fabric mod for Minecraft Java Edition 1.21 that brings the Bedrock / Education Edition Allow, Deny and Border blocks to Java Edition - designed for single-player worlds and LAN co-op world building. Every rule is evaluated consistently on all clients, and the host's configuration is synced live to everyone on the LAN.
What does it add?
Three "teacher block"-style utility blocks in a dedicated creative tab:
| Block | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Allow Block | Marks a column as buildable even where building is restricted. |
| Deny Block | Prohibits block placement and breaking in its whole column (nearest rule below a position wins; the highest stacked block takes precedence). |
| Border Block | An invisible wall that blocks the entire (x, z) column at every Y - it cannot be crossed by jumping over it, flying above it, or tunnelling underneath it. |
The blocks are extremely blast-resistant and cannot be moved by pistons, so they are safe map-making tools.
Key features
- Column-based protection - one allow/deny block governs building rules across its whole vertical column, exactly like the Bedrock original.
- Whole-column border barrier - the border wall exists from the world bottom to the world top at the block's (x, z) position; passing rules apply at every height.
- Two border modes, selectable in-game:
- Bedrock-like (default): blocks unprivileged players and monsters; projectiles, spectators, privileged players, vex and the ender dragon may pass.
- Block all entities: blocks every entity except privileged players and spectators (arrows, ender pearls, fireballs, shulker bullets etc. are stopped too).
- Flexible privilege system:
- global whitelist (
/allowdeny whitelist ...), - per-block NBT whitelist stored on the item / block entity,
- operator bypass (permission level 2, optionally requiring Creative mode).
- global whitelist (
- Visual config screen - a "Config" button on the Mods screen when Mod Menu and Cloth Config are installed (both optional at runtime).
- Full command suite for server-style control:
/allowdeny config,/allowdeny whitelist,/allowdeny reload,/allowdeny query. - Live LAN sync - the host's config and whitelist are pushed to every connected player automatically.
- Invisible border walls can be visualised with an optional red particle effect.
Why would you want it?
If you build adventure maps, mini-games or protected co-op areas in single-player or on a LAN host, this mod gives you Bedrock-grade build control: forbid building with Deny blocks, carve out buildable zones with Allow blocks, and seal off areas with unbreakable, impassable Border walls - without needing a full server setup.
Requirements
- Minecraft Java 1.21
- Fabric Loader >= 0.19.4 and Fabric API
- (optional) Mod Menu 11.x and Cloth Config 15.x for the config GUI
All players joining a LAN world need the same mod version installed.
Configuration
Graphical: Mods screen -> Bedrock Allow Deny Border -> Config.
Command line (OP level 2): see the in-game help of /allowdeny, e.g.:
/allowdeny config borderMode bedrock_like
/allowdeny config borderMode block_all_entities
/allowdeny whitelist add <player>
