🐒 Monkeys and Others

Bring the jungle to life!

Monkeys and Others adds animated monkeys, banana plants, poacher camps, new food, social animal behavior, and consequences for harming jungle wildlife.

Version 1.1.0 greatly expands monkey behavior and introduces poachers, rescue mechanics, new items, advancements, and Jungle's Distrust.

🐒 Monkeys

Monkeys spawn naturally in jungle biomes and come in three visual variants: brown, gray, and golden.

They can:

• Walk, sit, breathe, and look around with custom animations
• Eat many different fruits and foods
• Breed and produce baby monkeys
• Protect their young when a baby is attacked
• Groom other monkeys while resting
• Run away from the player who attacked them when their health is low
• Inherit a parent's color variant when born

All animations are powered by GeckoLib.

🍎 Food Theft

Spoiler

Adult monkeys may notice food held in your main hand or offhand.

They have a 35% chance to approach, snatch one item with a custom animation, and run away to eat it. Baby monkeys cannot steal food.

Wearing a Monkey Mask protects you from food theft.

⛺ Poacher Camps

Poacher camps can generate naturally in jungle biomes.

Each camp contains:

• A tent and camp supplies
• Hostile poachers armed with crossbows
• Cages containing captive monkeys
• Loot chests and barrels

Break the cage bars and lead a captive monkey outside to rescue it.

🌿 Jungle's Distrust

Spoiler

Killing five monkeys within ten minutes gives the player Jungle's Distrust for three minutes.

While the effect is active:

• Nearby adult monkeys become hostile
• Their attacks deal 50% more damage

🍌 Banana Bush

Banana bushes generate naturally in jungle biomes.

• They have multiple growth stages
• Fully grown bushes can be harvested for bananas
• Bananas can be used as food and for breeding monkeys

🎂 Banana Cake

Banana Cake is a new placeable food block with its own inventory texture and cake textures.

Craft it like a regular cake, but replace the two sugar ingredients with bananas.

🍌 Banana Peel

Eating a banana can leave behind a banana peel.

Bananas and banana peels can both be placed in a composter.

🎭 Monkey Mask

The Monkey Mask is wearable in the helmet slot.

Craft it by placing a leather helmet between two bananas:

Banana + Leather Helmet + Banana

Besides looking appropriate for the jungle, the mask prevents adult monkeys from stealing food from you.

• Back to the Wild — Free a captive monkey from a poacher camp

🍽️ Feeding and Breeding

Monkeys accept:

Bananas, apples, golden apples, enchanted golden apples, sweet berries, glow berries, melon slices, carrots, golden carrots, potatoes, baked potatoes, bread, cookies, pumpkin pie, and beetroot.

Feed two adult monkeys to breed them. Their baby will grow into an adult over time.
