MySkills MySkills is a Forge 1.20.1 mod that adds a large, branching RPG-style skill tree layered on top of vanilla Minecraft — over 140 individual skills, unlocked with Skill Points earned through normal play, spanning general combat stats, mobility, mining, water, archery, and full melee/elemental combat trees.
Skill Tree Structure Skills are laid out on a pannable, zoomable tree screen (with a search box for quickly finding a skill among 140+ nodes). Higher-tier skills require their prerequisites to be unlocked first, so the tree naturally guides you from foundational passives toward specialized, powerful abilities.
Categories Core Combat Stats — passive upgrades that scale with your build: Attack I–III, Critical I–III, Vampire I–III (lifesteal), Double Jump.
Defense & Mitigation — a full defensive line, not just offense: Defense I–III, Shield Master, Knockback Resist I–III, Guard I–III, Just Guard, and Parry Counter for precision-timed blocking/countering.
Mobility — Speed I–III, Back Jump, Forward Dodge, Air Dash I–III, and Shadow Step I–III for short-range repositioning.
Mining & Exploration — Mining I–III, Shockwave Mining, Mining Dash I–III, Auto Smelt I–III, Treasure Mining, Magnet I–III, Ore Radar I–III, and Night Vision.
Aquatic — a dedicated water-focused line: Water Breathing, Aquatic Speed I–III, Ocean Blessing I–III, Sea Hunter I–III, Bubble Shield, and Bubble Burst.
Archery — Arrow Speed I–V, Quick Draw I–III, Power Shot I–III, Piercing Arrow I–III, Snipe, and Arrow Rain.
Sword Arts — the core melee tree: Sword Wave I–III, Wind Cutter I–III, Cross Slash I–III, Shock Dash I–III, Spiral Slash I–III, Heaven Splitter I–III, Eclipse Form, Black Barrier I–III, Wave Slash I–III (with Fire/Ice/Dark elemental variants), Down Smash, Execute, Omni Slash, Sword Prison, Sword Rain, and Judgment Slash.
Earth — split into offense (Earth Slam I–III, Stone Spike Line, Fissure, Meteor Drop, Tremor, Aftershock, Petrify), mobility (Stone Surge, Earth Burrow), and defense (Bulwark, Bastion, Earth Wall, Rock Armor).
Lightning — Thunder Strike I–III (with Electrocute as a lingering-shock enhancement), Lightning Line, Chain Lightning, Storm Cloud, Paralyzing Bolt, Lightning Aura, Charged, Lightning Flash, Static Form, Lightning Burst, and Overload.
Fully Custom Keybinds Every active skill starts completely unbound when unlocked — nothing is auto-assigned. Players open a dedicated in-game keybind screen and assign their own key (including Shift+key combinations) to each unlocked skill individually. The screen detects and warns about key conflicts before letting you confirm a binding, and shows read-only context info next to skills that are naturally state-gated (e.g. underwater-only or airborne-only variants). It's fully separate from vanilla's Controls menu — general game keys stay there, while this screen is dedicated purely to skills.
Combat Feel A unified cooldown system tracks and visually displays cooldowns per skill, with correct enforcement (no effect-only "spam" bypasses). Some skills interact directly with terrain and entities — Earth Wall blocks projectiles and entities, Fissure creates a persistent hazard zone, Petrify roots a target with movement, rotation, and view control fully disabled while active. Stone Spike Line uses PlayerAnimator to play a custom third-person animation visible to nearby players, without altering your skin.
Progression Unlocking your very first skill grants a dedicated advancement prompting new players to open the keybind screen and configure their first key. Skill points, unlocked skills, and per-player state persist through Forge's capability system.
Built for Minecraft Forge 1.20.1.
