For those who have been eagerly awaiting the release of Mutant More 1.19:

Yes, you read the title correctly! Mutant More has been released for Minecraft 1.19.2!

As you know, I’ve been rebuilding Mutant More from the ground up in 1.19.2, the mod still doesn’t have all the content promised for the initial release, but I thought I’d left you waiting long enough (too long if I’m being honest), so I’ve decided to release a sort of early access version of the mod with 3 of the 8 planned mutants complete!

This version contains the remade Mutant Wither Skeleton, Mutant Shulker and Mutant Blaze.

For those who are new here:

Mutant More is a mod which adds several incredibly powerful mutated versions of mobs from Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons.

The mutants are very challenging opponents to fight, but give powerful rewards when defeated.

The mod also adds several new advancements! Can you complete them all?

This mod is heavily inspired by Mutant Creatures and Mutant Beasts, which are amazing mods that I highly recommend you check out!

Requires GeckoLib to work!

This mod is using the Forge modloader, and will only work when played using Forge.

The mod was made in Minecraft version 1.19.2 using Forge 1.19.2-43.2.4 and GeckoLib 1.19-3.1.39, so try those if you’re having problems, and let me know if problems are happening when using the latest versions so that I can fix it.

About Patron Pets

What is a Patron Pet?

Patron Pets are one of the rewards you get by becoming a patron of Alexander’s Fun and games!

They’re purely cosmetic, and follow you around wherever you go.

Every Alexander’s Fun and Games mod has its own adorable Patron Pet who will accompany you on your adventures.

How Patron Pets behave:

Patron Pets act similarly to other pets, they follow you around and teleport to you if they get too far away.

They can be configured by right-clicking them with an empty hand to bring up a menu, which can be used to stop them from producing particles, making sounds or spawning, if you disable a Patron Pet’s spawning, then want it back, then you can use a command with the pet’s name to bring up its menu.

Patron Pets can also be right-clicked while pressing shift to ride on your head! Shift right-click them again to get them off.

Mutant More's Patron Pet, Concoction W

About this Patron Pet:

Concoction W is Mutant More’s Patron Pet.

The command for bringing up its menu is /concoctionw

Description:

Concoction W is the ultimate mutation potion, even more advanced than Compound Z.

It turned out that Concoction W was so advanced that it mutated itself and became sentient. Luckily, this peppy potion wouldn’t hurt a fly, and chooses to be a companion for the Minecraft world’s best adventurers, always leaving a trail of bubbles wherever it goes.

If you’re having trouble working out what to do once you’ve downloaded the mod, here’s everything you need to know about Mutant More:

How to create a mutant mob

Formula Y and Compound Z:

What are Formula Y and Compound Z?

Formula Y and Compound Z are incredibly advanced potions which are capable of causing mobs to undergo a rapid metamorphosis into much more powerful forms, these mobs are called “mutant” mobs (or just “mutants”) and are usually extremely violent and dangerous, you must be prepared when mutating a mob or you probably won’t survive.

Why mutate mobs if it’s so dangerous?

When defeated, mutants drop special items which can be used to craft useful and powerful equipment, every mutant has 3 rewards that can be crafted from its drops.

How to mutate a mob:

To mutate a mob, you have to throw Formula Y or Compound Z at them like you would with a Splash Potion, the potion will then smash and create a Mutation Cloud.

About Mutation Clouds:

Mutation Clouds seek out the nearest mob to them and then move towards the mob (Mutation Clouds spawned by Compound Z move faster), once the Mutation Cloud has reached the mob, a cloud of energy will start to engulf the mob, spinning faster and faster until the mob either transforms into its mutated form, or the mutation fails.

If a mutation fails, the mob being mutated will be damaged by a significant amount.

If a mutation succeeds, then get ready for the fight of your life, the mutant won’t make it easy for you!

The chance for mobs to be successfully mutated by Mutation Clouds spawned by Formula Y is 10%

The chance for mobs to be successfully mutated by Mutation Clouds spawned by Compound Z is 100%

Brewing Formula Y and Compound Z:

To get yourself a vial of Formula Y, you have to use a Brewing Stand to add Crying Obsidian to a Splash Potion of Harming.

If you want to take your mad scientist skills to the next level and create Compound Z, you have to use a Brewing Stand to add the main drop of any mutant (Mutant Wither Skeleton Skull, Mutant Shulker Shell, etc.) to some Formula Y.

Wither Bomb:

WARNING: The Wither Bomb's animation is currently glitched, this is a GeckoLib bug and should be fixed in Minecraft 1.19.3 and above.

The Wither Bomb is a very dangerous weapon made from the remains of the Mutant Wither Skeleton, which, when triggered, spews a noxious cloud of withering gas into the air.

How to use the Wither Bomb:

The Wither Bomb has 2 modes; Trap Mode and Instant Mode.

When in Trap Mode, the Wither Bomb only activates when a mob gets close to it. Wither Bombs in Trap Mode can also be picked up by the player that placed them by right-clicking while crouching.

When in Instant Mode, the Wither Bomb activates instantly.

To place a Wither Bomb in Trap Mode, just place it on the ground as if it were a block.

To use a Wither Bomb in Instant Mode, throw it as if it were a splash potion or snowball.

How the Wither Bomb harms mobs:

The Mutant Blaze

Description:

The Mutant Blaze is an incredibly defensive mutant, capable of blocking attacks with ease. In a battle with the Mutant Blaze, it’s crucial to take any chance you get to damage it.

The Mutant Blaze’s Shields:

During the mutation process, the Blaze seems to have unlocked a special type of rod typically formed exclusively by its stronger cousin, the Wildfire.

These rods are created in the shape of Shields and are used to defend the Mutant Blaze against incoming attacks.

If damaged, one of the Mutant Blaze’s shields will break, creating a gap through which damage can be dealt, the Shield will be re-formed after 10 seconds.

The Mutant Blaze’s Heatstorm:

The Mutant Blaze’s core generates an immense amount of heat, causing a whirling cloud of ash to appear around the Mutant Blaze. Any mobs inside this cloud of ash will slowly begin to heat up, eventually getting so hot that they start to take damage. The only way to cool down once heated is to leave the cloud of ash.

If you’re getting heated, a screen overlay of fire and ash will slowly fade in, similarly to when freezing in Powder Snow. When you start to take damage from the heat, your hearts will appear to be on fire.

Any blocks caught inside this cloud of ash also get heated up, having a chance to catch on fire.

Changing the Mutant Blaze’s appearance:

The Mutant Blaze’s appearance can be changed to remove its Nether Brick armour in the Mutant Blaze’s client config file (more about Mutant More’s config files later)

Shield6Broken: If the Mutant Blaze’s seventh shield is broken

Abilities:

Attacks:

The Mutant Blaze has 2 attacks which it uses to damage its target.

Fireball Shot:

The Mutant Blaze charges up before shooting a fireball at its target, which deals 12 damage with a direct hit and sets any mob it directly hits on fire for 5 seconds. Fireballs fired by the Mutant Blaze also create fiery explosions on impact, which deal 10 damage.

If the Mutant Blaze is below 75% of its max health, it will shoot 2 extra fireballs, 3 in total.

If the Mutant Blaze is below half of its max health, it will shoot 2 more extra fireballs, 5 in total.

Rod Shot:

The Mutant Blaze starts rapidly spinning its top layer of rods, slowly raising them into the air, before shooting them all at its target, each rod dealing 4 damage and setting mobs on fire for 3 seconds.

About Mutant Blaze Rods:

Mutant Blaze Rods are projectiles that move similarly to Arrows, they break blocks they hit into and also set blocks on fire.

If the Mutant Blaze has no Rodling minions when using Rod Shot, 2 of the Mutant Blaze Rods it fires will turn into hostile Rodlings once they land, which immediately start attacking the Mutant Blaze’s target. (More info on Rodlings in the “Rewards for beating the Mutant Blaze” section)

If the Mutant Blaze is below half of its max health, the Rodlings it summons have a chance to be equipped with armour.

If the Mutant Blaze is below 25% of its max health, the Rodlings it summons have a chance to be equipped with shields.

Mutant Blaze Rod Data Parameters:

Mutant Blaze Rods have some unique entity data parameters that can be applied using commands, which are:

Griefing: if the Mutant Blaze Rod breaks blocks.

GriefingDropsBlocks: if blocks broken by the Mutant Blaze Rod drop as items.

FireGriefing: if the Mutant Blaze Rod sets blocks on fire.

IgnoresInvulTime: if the Mutant Blaze Rod can damage mobs regardless of the short invulnerability given to mobs when hurt.

DespawnTime: the amount of time in ticks (20 ticks in a second) that a Mutant Blaze Rod takes to despawn.

Glows: if the Mutant Blaze Rod appears with a glowing effect.

Other Abilities:

The Mutant Blaze has 5 other noteworthy behaviours which aren’t directly used to harm its target.

Lava Walk:

The Mutant Blaze can walk on all fluids as if they were regular blocks, similarly to how Striders walk on lava.

Slow Fall:

Like normal Blazes, the Mutant Blaze falls at a slower pace to normal mobs and doesn’t take fall damage.

Flee Target:

The Mutant Blaze attempts to run away from its target if they get too close to it, to avoid being damaged.

Hover:

The Mutant Blaze starts to hover into the air above its target, moving left and right to avoid being hit. After hovering for 15 seconds, the Mutant Blaze tries to land somewhere, and waits 20 seconds before starting to hover again.

This ability is only used if the Mutant Blaze is below half of its max health or if it’s more than 10 blocks below its target.

Crouch:

The Mutant Blaze enters a crouching pose if in areas with low ceilings, changing its height to 2.4. It tries to avoid entering or staying in these areas however, as they prevent it from using its hover ability.

Stunning the Mutant Blaze:

Similarly to Ghast fireballs, the Mutant Blaze’s fireballs can be hit to make them move in a different direction. Unlike Ghast fireballs however, Mutant Blaze fireballs blow up when colliding with each-other.

If a Mutant Blaze gets directly hit by its own fireball, it becomes stunned for a short amount of time, with its heatstorm getting deactivated and its shields being broken, making this a great opportunity to deal a lot of damage to the Mutant Blaze.

Recommended Equipment:

The Mutant Blaze is a very resilient opponent, so you need to have some strong weapons to fight it.

The recommended gear for fighting the Mutant Blaze is, at minimum:

Diamond Armour enchanted with Fire Protection

Diamond Weapons

A Shield enchanted with Unbreaking

A Bow enchanted with Power

A Totem of Undying

Something to destroy a lot of the Mutant Blaze’s shields quickly.

Defeating the Mutant Blaze:

When the Mutant Blaze is defeated, it will begin to slowly rise into the air, spinning its rods faster and faster and pulling them closer to its core. Eventually, the Mutant Blaze will explode, shooting fireballs and rods everywhere.

The best strategy for surviving this final attack is finding shelter, like the corridors of a Nether Fortress.

When the Mutant Blaze explodes, it drops 50 experience, a Disc Fragment and a Mutant Blaze Core. One of the rods it explodes into will actually be a Rodling, which can be right-clicked to tame it, the rest of the rods can be picked up as Blaze Powder.

Rewards for defeating the Mutant Blaze

Once you’ve defeated the Mutant Blaze and collected its core, you’ll probably want to craft something with it, here’s what you can do with the Mutant Blaze Core:

Mutant Blaze Shields:

This item is capable of periodically generating 4 of the Mutant Blaze’s shields to protect any mob you want!

Simply right-click using the Mutant Blaze Shields and you’ll be given a blazing barricade of your very own.

If you want to share this defence with a friend or pet, you can right-click any mob while crouching to equip them instead of yourself.

What do Mutant Blaze Shields actually do, you say? They can completely negate hits coming from any direction! Every hit will destroy a shield, meaning you’re completely immune to 4 hits after using the Mutant Blaze Shields.

After activating the shields, you can’t use them again for 2 minutes.

Crafting Mutant Blaze Shields:

Mutant Blaze Shields can be crafted using 4 Shields, 4 Blaze Powder and 1 Mutant Blaze Core.

Heatstorm Generator:

As the name suggests, the Heatstorm Generator is a machine that harnesses the heat and power of the Mutant Blaze Core to create a heatstorm that behaves identically to the Mutant Blaze’s one, slowly heating up and eventually harming mobs that get too close.

The Heatstorm Generator requires a redstone signal to activate, making it a useful component in mob farms.

Crafting the Heatstorm Generator:

The Heatstorm Generator can be crafted using 2 Iron Bars, 1 Redstone Dust, 1 Mutant Blaze Core, 1 Blast Furnace and 4 of any material used to craft stone tools.

Rodlings and the Rodling Checker:

About Rodlings:

Rodlings are small creatures which appear because of an irregularity in the forming of Blaze Rods, where the rod is created with a core, which eventually breaks the rod in half to reveal the core inside, and grows its own small rods and head, becoming a Rodling.

The Mutant Blaze has learnt to control the forming of Rodlings, being able to create them during its Rod Shot attack.

Rodlings are relentless when they acquire a target, chasing after them at great speeds, following their target’s trail even minutes after they’ve lost sight of them. This behaviour makes Rodlings excellent for the Mutant Blaze to send after its target if they retreat into corridors where the Mutant Blaze refuses to go.

Rodlings attack by shooting a single small Fireball at their target, which deals some damage and sets any mobs it hits on fire for 5 seconds.

Tamed Rodlings:

Rodlings aren’t just a useful weapon for the Mutant Blaze, they can also be loyal companions for Players!

When the Mutant Blaze is defeated, one of the rods it drops will actually be a Rodling, which, when right-clicked by a Player, will become that Player’s best friend forever!

Tamed Rodlings behave similarly to tamed Wolves, defending their owner from attacking mobs, fighting alongside their owner and sitting when told to. They can also be interacted with by right-clicking them with a certain item in hand to make special things happen:

Tamed Rodlings which are below max health can be fed Coal or Charcoal to heal them by 20% of their max health.

Tamed Rodlings can be fed Soul Sand or Soul Soil to make them look like Soul Fire, and fed Blaze Powder to change them back.

Targets:

By default, hostile Rodlings only target Players by default, and tamed Rodlings target nothing.

Upgrading tamed Rodlings:

Tamed Rodlings can be upgraded with some special items to protect them and make them more combat-ready, the items being:

Rodling Shields:

Rodling Shields can be given to tamed Rodlings to transform their rods into shields, which are able to negate hits. When the Rodling is hit, one of its shields will be broken, the Rodling can only be damaged when both shields are broken. The shields will re-form after 7.5 seconds.

Rodling Shields are crafted using 2 Shields and 4 Blaze Powder.

Rodling Helmet:

The Rodling Helmet can be given to tamed Rodlings to equip them with a very useful, and, might I add, adorable, set of armour.

Rodlings equipped with armour will take halved damage, making them last much longer in the heat of battle.

Rodling Helmets are crafted using 1 Golden Helmet and 7 Nether Bricks.

Hostile Rodlings can also be equipped with shields and helmets, and also healed or transformed into Soul Rodlings, but only if you’re in creative mode.

While in this state, the Mutant Shulker moves through the air similarly to Mutant Shulker bullets, and, when colliding with mobs, knocks them back and deals 10 damage. Try to avoid the Mutant Shulker while it flies, or you’ll probably be knocked into the void, it also destroys any blocks it smashes into while flying.

It will only stop flying after 20 seconds, or if you manage to damage it while it flies.

In Shell Attacks:

While inside its shell, the Mutant Shulker has 3 attacks which it can use to damage its target.

Bullet Shot:

The Mutant Shulker briefly opens its shell and shoots a single Mutant Shulker Bullet which deals 8 damage and afflicts mobs they hit with Levitation IV for 5 seconds.

Trap Scatter (In Shell):

The Mutant Shulker spins its shell around and scatters Mutant Shulker Traps around itself, which deal 10 damage and turn into Shulker Bullets after 15 seconds.

Anvil Crush:

The Mutant Shulker quickly opens its shell before teleporting above its target’s head and falling on them, any mobs hit by the Mutant Shulker when falling are dealt 30 damage.

Other Abilities:

The Mutant Shulker has another noteworthy ability which isn’t used to directly harm its target.

Teleporting:

The Mutant Shulker has the ability to teleport around its target, the ways it teleports are different depending on the circumstances, which are listed here:

While outside its shell the Mutant Shulker tries to teleport towards its target so that it can use the Bite attack.

While inside its shell or flying, the Mutant Shulker teleports around its target to confuse them.

The Mutant Shulker has a chance to teleport out of the way before getting hurt.

The Mutant Shulker tries to teleport away if in water.

The Mutant Shulker teleports to its target if falling into the void.

Recommended Equipment:

The Mutant Shulker is a very dangerous enemy, so you must have some strong equipment to fight it.

The recommended gear for fighting the Mutant Shulker is, at minimum:

Diamond Armour enchanted with Protection

Diamond Boots enchanted with Feather Falling

Diamond Weapons enchanted with Sharpness

A Shield enchanted with Unbreaking

A Bow enchanted with Power

A Totem of Undying

Defeating the Mutant Shulker:

When you finally succeed in defeating the Mutant Shulker, it will begin to spin its shell, rapidly shooting Mutant Shulker Bullets everywhere, then it explodes, dealing 30 damage to anything caught in the blast.

Your best chance to survive this final attack is to get as far away from the Mutant Shulker as you possibly can.

When the Mutant Shulker explodes, it drops 60 experience, a Disc Fragment and a Mutant Shulker Shell.

Rewards for defeating the Mutant Shulker

Once you’ve defeated the Mutant Shulker and collected its shell, you’ll want to make something out of it, here’s what you can do with the Mutant Shulker Shell:

Mutant Shulker Trap:

One of the things you can make with the Mutant Shulker Shell is a batch of your very own Mutant Shulker Traps, these Mutant Shulker Traps behave very similarly to ones spawned by the Mutant Shulker, dealing 10 damage to mobs they snap and afflicting them with Slowness II for 4 seconds.

There are some differences though, the differences being that Mutant Shulker Traps placed by a Player have infinite uses, instead of just one, they can be picked up by the Player that set them if right-clicking while crouching with an empty hand and they won’t turn into Shulker Bullets.

Crafting Mutant Shulker Traps:

A batch of 16 Mutant Shulker Traps can be crafted using 2 String, 1 Tripwire Hook and 1 Mutant Shulker Shell.

Mutant Shulker Shield:

The Mutant Shulker Shield is a very useful item, because as well as defending you by blocking attacks, it can defend you by blowing up your enemies!

If you press left-click while blocking with the Mutant Shulker Shield, you can shoot a Mutant Shulker Bullet, which deals 8 damage and afflicts any mobs directly hit by it with Levitation IV for 5 seconds. Unfortunately, this comes at a cost, the Mutant Shulker Shield will be temporarily disabled for 10 seconds while it generates a new Mutant Shulker Bullet, this disables the Mutant Shulker Shield’s blocking capabilities as well as its ability to shoot Mutant Shulker Bullets.

The Mutant Shulker Shield is also very heavy! Giving you a very small movement speed decrease while carrying it.

Crafting the Mutant Shulker Shield:

The Mutant Shulker Shield can be crafted using 6 Iron Ingots, 1 Mutant Shulker Shell, 1 Shield and 1 Dispenser.

Mutant Shulker Turret:

The Mutant Shulker Turret is a state of the art base defence utility, as loyal as an Iron Golem and as dangerous to its enemies as a Wither.

The Mutant Shulker Turret will always remain in the same place, but makes up for its lack of mobility with triple the firepower of your average turret. It has an Eye of Ender and 2 Ender Pearls all serving as all-seeing eyes, all-thinking brains and all-shooting guns for the turret.

The Eye of Ender, the leader of the operation, is capable of shooting Mutant Shulker Bullets which deal 8 damage and afflict any mobs directly hit by them with Levitation IV for 5 seconds, the two Ender Pearls are also able to help out, shooting regular Shulker Bullets at nearby enemies.

Each head is able to target a different monster, making the Mutant Shulker Turret ideal against groups of enemies.

Heads ignore targets that have the Levitation effect, because they know the fall damage will probably kill the mob for them.

When damaged, the Mutant Shulker Turret’s shell will appear cracked, it can be healed by right-clicking it a Shulker Shell.

The Mutant Shulker Turret is the hardest thing to craft from the Mutant Shulker’s drops, requiring 2 Mutant Shulker Shells.

Mutant Shulker Turret Stats:

Max Health: 200

Armour: 10

Knockback Resistance: 1

Follow Distance: 30

Width: 1.25

Height: 4.25

Targets:

The Mutant Shulker Turret targets all enemy mobs by default.

Crafting the Mutant Shulker Turret:

The Mutant Shulker Turret is crafted using 2 Mutant Shulker Shells, 4 Shulker Shells, 2 Ender Pears and 1 Eye of Ender.
