Nuclear and Atomic Bombs adds a placeable bomb and a remote detonator. The blast leaves a crater, scorched terrain, and a mushroom cloud, with radiation that can linger for up to ten minutes.
Placing and detonating bombs
Right-click a block to place the bomb. Its GeckoLib model has idle, armed, and critical animations. The detonator arms every placed bomb within 10,000 blocks, starting a ten-second fuse on all of them. Beeps speed up during the countdown, with smoke and sparks.
The blast
The explosion destroys terrain within 100 blocks, leaving a central crater, a scorched ring, and a carved bowl floor. Blackstone and magma replace parts of the damaged ground.
Damage reaches 10,000 HP at ground zero and decreases with distance. Nearby entities also receive knockback, fire, and radiation. Radiation strength depends on how close they were; stronger radiation deals damage more often and can last up to ten minutes near the center.
Visuals and performance
The mushroom cloud uses custom GLSL raymarching with depth occlusion. The screen flashes white, orange, then red, while camera shake combines a sharp jolt with a slower rumble.
Six particle phases add ground fire, secondary blasts, hot embers, base-surge dust, a suction vortex, and falling ash. These visual effects run on the client. Terrain destruction is processed asynchronously and spread across ticks to reduce server stalls.
The mod works in singleplayer and multiplayer, including several bombs detonating together.
