What is Petlings?

Petlings adds client-side pet companions to Minecraft. Pick from 42 pet species, dress them up with 170+ 3D cosmetics, teach them emotes, and watch them develop unique personalities. Your pet syncs across devices, so the same pet you see in Minecraft also appears on petlings.gg and the upcoming iOS and Mac app.

No server install required - Petlings runs entirely on your client, on Fabric or NeoForge.

🎃 Pumpkin Hollow (October only)

• Friendly ghosts drift around your pet after dark. The cosy kind: soft white wisps, never scary.
• Trick or treat: now and then a ghost leaves a wrapped sweet on the ground near your pet. Walk over it to unwrap it and cheer your pet up.
• The hollow's story is told the first time you play each October, and your pet has a few seasonal things to say on October nights.
• Pumpkin Hat: free for everyone, all year.
• Don't want it? One Seasonal switch in Settings turns it all off.

✨ Features

42 Pet Species

Cats, wolves, foxes, axolotls, baby dragons, elemental slimes, wisps, lantern imps, pigmy krakens, pocket phoenixes, mini gryphons, shadowling wolves, star sprites, nimbus pups, and more. Each has variants, randomized personality traits, and (for the Bloom-release pets) mood-driven texture switching.

170+ 3D Cosmetics

Hats, glasses, capes, wings, weapons, trails, ears, tails, horns, collars, boots, back-items. All rendered as full 3D models attached to your pet, animated cosmetics included: the Storm Halo spins, the Clockwork Collar's gear turns, the Propeller Pack's blades spin, and the new Pumpkin Hat bobs along.

A Pet That Remembers You

Tell your pet things in chat ("I love axolotls", "today I built a farm") and it remembers them, bringing them up later in conversation and idle chatter. It also remembers your adventures: advancements, close calls, rare finds, nights survived. Open My Pet > Memories to see everything it knows and forget anything you like.

Pawprints & Sniff, Dig, Keep

• Pawprints: a rhythm mini-game. Your pet stamps glowing pawprints around itself; tap each one as the ring closes.
• Sniff, dig, keep: your pet sniffs and digs on grass, dirt, sand and gravel. Most finds are ordinary; eight are keepsakes buried long ago. Find all eight and the old Heart Tree wakes.

Pet AI with Personality

Pets follow you with smooth pathfinding, idle animations, wandering, sitting, playing and looking around, and after 30 seconds of stillness they curl up and sleep. Randomized playfulness / curiosity / laziness traits drive their behaviour. As of 0.8.0, pets stand calmly beside you instead of shaking.

Emote System

19 emotes across five categories: Greeting (wave, nod, bow), Dance (spin, hop dance, wiggle), Expression (happy jump, confused, sad droop, angry stomp, love hearts), Action (sit, beg, roll over, play dead, sleep), Trick (backflip, handstand, fetch). Press Y for the emote wheel.

Multiplayer

See other players' pets with their cosmetics, tints, and emotes in real time. Works on any server, no plugins required.

Cosmetic Editor

Fine-tune the position, scale, and rotation of each cosmetic slot per pet type. Save profiles per pet.

Pet Care, Leveling & Abilities

Feed, play with, and pet your companion to earn XP. Needs drift gently while you're away but never drop to nothing, so time away leaves your pet wanting company, never suffering. Unlock 6 abilities: Head Mount, Night Vision, Ore Radar, Swift Companion, Pet Satchel, Combat Buddy.

Cross-Platform Sync

Your pet, cosmetics, level, stats and conversations sync to the cloud. Chat with your pet in Minecraft and pick up the same conversation on the web.

🔄 Changelog - 0.8.0 "Pumpkin Hollow"

The mod's half of the iOS app's October update. 0.7.0 was never released on its own, so this also includes the Heart Tree Update.

Pumpkin Hollow

• Friendly ghosts after dark, trick-or-treat sweets, the hollow's story, seasonal chatter (October only; Seasonal switch in Settings).
• New free cosmetic: Pumpkin Hat.

Fixes

• No more pet shaking: pets are no longer slammed down mid-jump when stepping up a block, and no longer slide and flip when you walk into them.
• Teleport-to-owner no longer drops your pet into a wall or off a ledge.

From the Heart Tree Update

• Memories: your pet remembers what you tell it, and you can see and forget anything.
• Game journal: your pet remembers your Minecraft adventures.
• Shared chat: in-game chat shows the same conversation as the web and app.
• Pawprints rhythm game and Sniff, dig, keep with eight keepsakes.
• Needs that match the cloud and never bottom out.
• The shop is driven by the live catalog, so every pet and cosmetic can be bought in game.
