Portal Pairing

Portal Pairing helps you build Nether portals that connect exactly where you expect.

Before lighting an unlit portal, use flint and steel to see whether Minecraft will create a new portal in the other dimension or link to an existing one — including its coordinates.

Features

• Predict a portal's destination before activating it.
• See the coordinates of the portal that will be linked.
• Detect an existing portal that prevents the intended connection.
• Get the suggested location for a portal that will pair correctly.
• Select two portals with Shift + right-click to check whether they will link.
• Shift + double right-click a portal to mark it as unwanted and see how to avoid linking to it.
• Messages are shown only to the player who requested them.

Modes

Simple — enabled by default

All Portal Pairing features are available immediately with flint and steel.

Immersive

Flint and steel does nothing until it has the Portal Insight enchantment.

• Level I: destination preview
• Level II: select and compare portals with Shift + right-click
• Level III: mark an unwanted portal with Shift + double right-click

Portal Insight can be obtained from an enchanting table, librarian villagers, and ruined portals.

Server-side

Portal Pairing is designed for servers. Players receive their own portal information without filling chat for everyone else.
