Pumps & Pistons
Pump it. Refine it. Move it.
Turn a finite oil field into a working service station. Survey the ground, extract crude, refine petrol and diesel, then store and dispense your fuel. Pumps & Pistons brings the whole production loop to survival, with practical machines, reusable containers and a coordinated station building kit.
One P&P download. Vehicle support included; vehicle mods optional. Automobility integration ships inside the complete P&P JAR. Add the matching Automobility build for vehicle tanks, refuelling and the Trip Computer, or use P&P on its own for production and construction.
From the oil field to the forecourt
- Survey and extract: reusable surveying, finite shared oil reserves and a compact pumpjack with a 100 L buffer. No oil ores or terrain-generation changes.
- Refine: process 10 L batches with petrol-focused, balanced or diesel-focused yields. Keep the useful bitumen residue for road surfaces.
- Store and transfer: reusable 20 L cans, 400 L service pumps and 1,000 L passive storage tanks. Move liquids with cans or attended transfer hoses.
- Build your station: connected canopy panels and columns, fuel signs, lights, bollards, kerbs, drains, wheel stops and roadside pylons.
Machine capacities are defaults where configurable. Production operates in loaded chunks; P&P does not force chunks or extract oil while a field is unloaded.
Give the fuel somewhere to go
With matching Automobility installed, petrol and diesel tanks persist with each car. Use a pump nozzle to select the exact parked vehicle, or hold right-click with a can for gradual refuelling. Wrong fuel is rejected, partial transfers keep their remainder, and clear progress displays show the transfer direction.
Consumption responds to the engine, vehicle weight, passengers and driving. New installations use the survival consumption preset; existing custom settings are retained. In the in-game manual's Consumption chapter, World settings shows the connected server's actual values.
Press K while seated to open the Trip Computer: this car's distance and actually burned petrol or diesel since its last reset. Passengers can read; only the driver can confirm a reset. Electric or unmetered travel is kept distinct from a liquid-fuel average.
Momentum is optional. It provides a coordinated driving display; the fuel gauge also works without it. Compatible Powerworks adds its own electrical machines and vehicle battery systems; use the combination listed with the release. Neither is required for the standalone P&P fuel loop.
Powerworks compatibility: Powerworks is optional. Wait for a public build that explicitly supports P&P 1.10.4-beta.1 before adding it to this beta.
Illustrated field manual
Nine illustrated chapters in 18 languages guide you from your first survey to safe machine transfers, vehicle refuelling and bulk storage. The manual combines selectable text with clear machine diagrams and real item renders.

Install and upgrade
P&P supports Minecraft 26.1.2 and 26.2 on Fabric, with Java 25. Install P&P and Fabric API on the server and clients. For vehicles, add the exact matching Automobility release for the same Minecraft version.
The matching pairing is P&P 1.10.4-beta.1 + Automobility 1.0.0-beta.1; optional Momentum uses its matching 1.0.0-beta.1 release. Choose all files for the same Minecraft version.
Back up the closed world and keep your configurations before upgrading. An old adapter configuration or JAR preserves fuel ON; an existing P&P setup without either preserves OFF. Explicit settings take precedence. The server's choice requires restart and does not erase stored fuel or disable Powerworks batteries.
For integrated P&P, the separate adapter is unnecessary. Keep it for the first migration start if upgrading from it, then remove the redundant file after verification. Older P&P releases still need their matching separate adapter.
For full requirements and the migration steps, use the shared installation guide. Stop and drain machines before moving them; dropped equipment does not carry its stored liquids.
