Return by Death
Return by Death is a Fabric rollback mod. When a player with Return by Death enabled would die, death is cancelled and the world is restored to that player’s latest timeline checkpoint.
The mod tracks player state, blocks, block entities, items, mobs, entities, scheduled ticks, weather, time, and related world state to make the rollback feel close to a real rewind.

Default Config
- Enabled by default in singleplayer
- Not granted by default in multiplayer
- 30 second checkpoint interval
- Chat checkpoint notifications disabled
- Safe checkpoints enabled
- Sleep checkpoints enabled
- Advancement checkpoints enabled
- Return protection disabled
- Rollback sound enabled
- 100% checkpoint chance
- 0 seconds randomness
Notes
Safe checkpoints may delay automatic checkpoint creation while the checkpoint owner is airborne, in lava or fire, recently damaged, in active combat, near hostile threats, using an open container, or carrying a cursor item.
/rbd checkpoint force bypasses safety checks. /rbd rewind manually restores the latest checkpoint without needing to die.
Scope
Return by Death supports singleplayer, Open LAN, and dedicated multiplayer servers. Multiplayer support is designed for small groups and uses a shared world timeline with per-player checkpoint ownership.
