Wildlife Dynamics
Wildlife Dynamics modifies the AI of vanilla Minecraft animals to simulate realistic predator-prey behavior. All changes are server-side and require no configuration.
What the mod changes
Wolves hunt in coordinated groups. When a wild wolf detects prey, it alerts nearby wolves and the pack approaches from multiple directions before attacking. Wolves track their hunger level — well-fed wolves will not hunt, while wolves that have gone without food for an extended period will become more aggressive. Wolves that cannot find prey for long enough will despawn.
Sheep and Rabbits actively detect approaching predators within a set radius. When a threat is spotted, they flee in the opposite direction and alert nearby animals of the same species. Fleeing animals will preferentially move toward water, where wolves are less likely to follow.
Chickens detect foxes and wolves and flee accordingly, warning nearby chickens in the process.
Foxes use a two-phase hunting approach at night — a slow stalk phase followed by a sprint when close enough to strike.
Animal populations are regulated automatically. If too many animals of the same species occupy a small area, breeding is suppressed until numbers decrease. This prevents overpopulation without admin intervention.
