Reworked Death is a lightweight survival-focused mod that introduces the treasure-only Deathbound enchantment, allowing you to retain a single item after death at the cost of durability, and drastically increases the despawn time of dropped items from 5 minutes to 6 in-game hours, giving players a real chance to recover their gear.
Features
Deathbound Enchantment
- Rare treasure enchantment (levels I–III, not enchantable at the table)
- Automatically keeps the enchanted item in your inventory after death
- After death, it has a chance to lose 1 level depending on its current strength (50% at level I, 33% at level II, 25% at level III); if level I is lost, the enchantment is removed entirely
- The item also loses 25–50% of its remaining durability (if you want to re-enchant your gear indefinitely, I recommend installing the Anvil Never Too Expensive mod)
- Compatible with tools and armor, and also with the recovery compass
- Can be found in structure chests, via fishing, and through librarian trades (Novice to Expert)
Death Drops Despawn Slower
- All items dropped on death remain on the ground for 6 in-game hours instead of 5 minutes
- The despawn timer still pauses if the chunk is unloaded (vanilla behavior preserved)
