Salt and Pink Salt:
Salt Ore can be found naturally generating in all Oceans, Rivers, Swamps, and the new Salt Flat biome between y levels 20 and 60 in veins of 12. Salt can be eaten for the new thirst effect, or it can be added to all potatoes giving them more nutritional value - or even converting poisonous potatoes into regular ones. Salt can also be crafted with water bottles creating salt water bottles, which can be drunk for the thirst effect or can be turned into splash potions/lingering potions/tipped arrows for use on mobs.
Pink salt is much rarer than normal salt as it can only be found high up in mountain biomes between y levels 130 and 256 in veins of 3. It can be eaten for both thirst and regeneration and can also be added to potatoes for these effects as well as can be used to make bottles of pink salt water/potions/lingering potions/tipped arrows like the regular salt variant.
Both of these items can be used on the following blocks to convert them:
- Wet Sponge -> Sponge
- Snow -> Air
- Snow Block -> Water
- Ice -> Water
- Packed Ice -> Ice
- Powder Snow -> Water
- Powder Snow Cauldron -> Water Cauldron
- Mud -> Dirt
- Mossy Cobblestone -> Cobblestone
- Mossy Cobblestone Slab -> Cobblestone Slab
- Mossy Cobblestone Stairs -> Cobblestone Stairs
- Mossy Cobblestone Wall -> Cobblestone Wall
- Mossy Stone Bricks -> Stone Bricks
- Mossy Stone Brick Slab -> Stone Brick Slab
- Mossy Stone Brick Stairs -> Stone Brick Stairs
- Mossy Stone Brick Wall -> Stone Brick Wall
- Infested Mossy Stone Bricks -> Infested Stone Bricks
Thirst:
The thirst effect causes the thirst bar to appear which drains as the thirst effect continues. The thirst bar can be replenished by 5 points when eating apples, melons, beetroot, and berries and can be replenished by 3 points when eating carrots. If the thirst bar runs out, the player will take damage and eventually die of dehydration. Thirst causes damage to Slimes and all undead mobs any time that they have the effect.
Blocks:
Both salt and pink salt can be crafted into these block variants:
- Blocks of salt (which are gravity blocks)
- Clumped salt
- Clumped salt stairs
- Clumped salt slab
- Clumped salt wall
- Rock salt
- Rock salt stairs
- Rock salt slab
- Rock salt wall
- Rock salt bricks
- Rock salt brick stairs
- Rock salt brick slab
- Rock salt brick wall
- Cracked Rock salt bricks
- Cracked Rock salt brick stairs
- Cracked Rock salt brick slab
- Cracked Rock salt brick wall
- Chiseled Rock Salt Bricks
- Rock Salt Pillars
Blocks of salt can be crafted together into clumped salt blocks, and again into rock salt blocks (much like Sand gets crafted into Sandstone), Every other recipe works consistent to vanilla. Blocks of salt are obtained by crafting 9 of their salt variant.
Additionally, Blocks of Salt and Blocks of Pink Salt will convert the following blocks over time if the block is making contact with any one of its faces
- Wet Sponge -> Sponge
- Snow -> Air
- Snow Block -> Water
- Ice -> Water
- Packed Ice -> Ice
- Powder Snow -> Water
- Mud -> Dirt
- Mossy Cobblestone -> Cobblestone
- Mossy Cobblestone Slab -> Cobblestone Slab
- Mossy Cobblestone Stairs -> Cobblestone Stairs
- Mossy Cobblestone Wall -> Cobblestone Wall
- Mossy Stone Bricks -> Stone Bricks
- Mossy Stone Brick Slab -> Stone Brick Slab
- Mossy Stone Brick Stairs -> Stone Brick Stairs
- Mossy Stone Brick Wall -> Stone Brick Wall
- Infested Mossy Stone Bricks -> Infested Stone Bricks
Oil:
Fish cant survive in oil and will sink while on their sides. Much like the real-world differences between oil and water, oil has a viscosity of 7 instead of 5 and a density of 13 instead of 15. It can be used as a fuel source for 10000 burn time which is half as much as lava. Oil spawns rarely in veins of up to 15 anywhere in the Overworld as well as in oil pockets around Salt Domes, massive rare underground deposits that start at y level zero and are up to 80 blocks tall. (they can sometimes even poke through to the surface!). Oil can be used to fill oil cans, which in turn allow you to oil minecarts for 1.5x speed or oil Iron Golems to give them strength for a short period of time.
The Salt Flat Biome:
The Salt Flats are vast expanses of flat land generating at y level 65. The ground is made out of clumped salt blocks and the caves below them have clumped salt for their floors and rock salt for their ceilings. It is a hot biome with no precipitation and is where you can rarely find salt ruins generating far below at y level -27. The only hostile mob that spawns in this biome are skeletons, so you should be prepared when navigating these open spaces at night. The biome is where you can find salt lakes which are the only places to find flamingos. Under the salt flats you will find a thick layer of rock salt, and-if you look hard enough - rock salt fossil blocks! These can be mined to get rock salt fossils for your collection.
Salt Ruins:
This is a new rare structure which consists of 5 sub structures plus a central one. Skeletons roam the salt ruins in increased amounts so be careful! The goal is to light every summoning plinth on the tall spires and short pillars before firing a projectile at the spawning plinth on the center structure. If one does so, the Salt Mage will be summoned.
Entities:
Jellyfish:
This mob can only be obtained by trading with wandering traders. It is a bucketable mob and deals poison damage on contact much like a pufferfish. They drop 1-3 salt upon death and flee from Turtles, which will attack them. Jellyfish spawn in the colors: Red, Orange, Blue, Cyan, Purple, and Pink as of 1.3.
Flamingos:
Flamingos spawn in salt lakes found in salt flats, on death they drop 1-3 flamingo feathers which can be crafted into pink dye. They can be bred with fish and there is a rare albino varient of the flamingo that drops a white feather. Flamingos can also stand one one leg.
Crystids:
These mobs can only spawn by being summoned by the salt mage. They have a limited life like vexes, they have 15hp, and they deal 3 attack damage by biting the player. They can move as fast as the player can sprint. Crystids have a 1/5 chance to inflict thirst 2 with their bites.
The Salt Mage:
This is a boss-tier illager mob that has 150 hp and can be spawned when lighting all of the summoning plinths in a salt ruin and firing a projectile at the central spawning plinth. Its main attack is to summon crystids and as it does so it will levitate. At half health it will be able to summon walls of salt bricks to block the player's attacks while healing some of its health. The salt mage drops a Salt Tome upon death which can be used to max out the level of a single enchanted book when combined with it.
The Mirage:
The Mirage can be summoned when a player's thirst bar is under half way full in a desert. It has 80 HP, is immune to everything except for weapon attacks, is incredibly fast and has a larger attack range than the player. The mirage will stand still staring at the player until they come within 50 blocks of it. Then it will become invisible except for it's emissive eyes until the player makes eye contact with it. This will cause the player to be teleported towards the mirage and it will begin attacking. Killing a Mirage will give the player the challenge advancement "Was It Even There?" and it drops a block of sand and an Eye of the Desert which is used to craft the Staff of the Desert.
Enjoy the mod!
