Turning a box into a palette
Open any shulker box and click the power button on the left. The mode, Save, and Load buttons appear, and the box is now a palette.

Random
With a palette box in hand, each right-click places a block from the box, picked at random by count. Here one box builds a mixed stone wall.

Gradient
In Gradient, each row of the box is a level. Hold the palette modifier (Left Alt, or Option on a Mac) and scroll to move up a row, here from white to light gray to gray concrete.

Pick
In Pick, hold the palette modifier and scroll to choose one block. Every click places that block until the box runs out of it.

Opening the box in your hand
Hold the palette modifier and right-click the air to open any shulker box in your hand without placing it.

How a palette box looks
A palette box is drawn open with its next block inside, in your hand and in third person.

Load in survival
In survival, Load leaves the box as it is and shows a faded copy of the block that belongs in each empty slot, with how many go there.
