Stay In Character (Standalone)

Stay In Character (Standalone) is a simple roleplay mod that lets players mark themselves as [IC] (in character) or [OOC] (out of character).

It is a standalone adaptation of my original mod, Stay In Character (WCESIC), which was made specifically as a patch for Warrior Cats Events and its custom nameplates.

This version came about through a commission for a version of that system that could work independently of WCE. The commissioner gave permission, and specifically requested, for the finished mod to also be released publicly. Because it is directly based on WCESIC, this project is marked as a derivative work.

What it does

Your current [IC] or [OOC] status appears:

• above your normal player nameplate
• before your name in chat
• beside your name in the player list

It doesn't replace Minecraft's existing name formatting. Vanilla team colors, prefixes, and suffixes are preserved, and players do not need to belong to any particular team to use a status.

Using it

Press R to switch between [IC] and [OOC]. You can change the keybind normally through Minecraft's Controls menu.

There are also commands:

• /ic to set yourself as [IC]
• /ooc to set yourself as [OOC]
• /rpstatus off to remove your status
• /rpstatus clear to also removes your status
• /rpvisibility to toggle the visibility of status markers
• /rpvisibility on
• /rpvisibility off

Visibility is entirely client-side. Hiding the markers only hides them for you and doesn't change what anybody else sees. Your visibility preference is saved between sessions.

IC/OOC statuses themselves are temporary and reset when a player leaves the server.

Installation

Stay In Character (Standalone) needs to be installed on both the server and connecting clients.

Check the individual version you're downloading for its supported Minecraft version and mod loader.
