Silkworms & Moths 0.7.0
Your tamed silk moth is now a proper mount: give it a saddle, open its equipment screen, and take off โ then double-tap W to cruise hands-free while you steer by looking.
โจ New
- ๐ด Saddle-required riding โ taming alone no longer lets you fly. Right-click your tamed moth while holding a saddle to equip it. An unsaddled moth tells you it "Needs a saddle" instead of being ridden.
- ๐ Moth equipment screen โ a small vanilla-style mount window with one saddle slot (no chest storage), a live moth preview, and a leash status indicator when it's on a lead.
- โจ๏ธ Press E while riding to open that screen, exactly like a horse. Sneak + right-click opens it on the ground.
- ๐น๏ธ Cruise flight โ while riding, double-tap W or hold Ctrl+W to latch a gentle hands-free forward cruise. Steer by looking; it releases on back, sneak, landing, wall hit or dismount.
- ๐ชฃ Bucket count visuals โ the Silkworm Bucket now shows how many worms are inside (1โ5) at a glance.
- ๐ Soft ambience โ faint, throttled wing flutter and rare dust motes in flight, plus quiet cues on cocoon hatch, taming and silkworm nibbling.
๐ง Changes
- ๐ Calmer moths โ idle moths flutter around less and rest on the ground more (following, combat and riding are unaffected).
- ๐ฟ Feeding tightened โ silkworms now only accept grass-type plants (short/tall grass, fern, large fern); moths still use cherry leaves only. Grazing still never harms grass blocks.
- โค๏ธ Sturdier pet โ newly tamed moths now have 16 HP (up from 12). Damage stays gentle โ the moth is a support companion, not a war pet.
๐ Compatibility
- No entity/item ID changes and no breaking save changes. Moths tamed before 0.7.0 are granted a saddle once on load so they stay rideable.
- No custom gameplay networking โ 0.7.0 uses one tiny standard Fabric screen payload (the moth's entity id) purely to render the equipment-screen preview.
- Requires Fabric API; Mod Menu optional. Minecraft 1.21.11, both client & server.
๐งน Safe removal
Unchanged: run /silkworms removal_check then /silkworms prepare_removal confirm while installed โ tamed moths become named vanilla Allays, and any equipped saddle is dropped, never destroyed.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
