Simple Backups for Fabric

Simple Backups for Fabric

An unofficial, community-maintained Fabric port of SimpleBackups.

This project brings SimpleBackups to the Fabric ecosystem while aiming to preserve the features, configuration, and behavior of the original mod.

In addition to the standard port, optional GUI-enhanced builds are available for selected Minecraft versions.

Features

The core backup functionality is inherited from upstream SimpleBackups:

  • Automatic scheduled and manual backups
  • Full, incremental, and differential backups
  • ZIP, ZSTD, and SBK archive formats
  • Backup retention and storage management
  • Backup-chain merging
  • Singleplayer and dedicated server support
  • Compatibility with existing SimpleBackups configuration conventions

Features may vary depending on the corresponding upstream release and Minecraft version.

Available Versions

This project provides two variants:

Standard Version

The standard Fabric port follows the corresponding upstream SimpleBackups release as closely as possible.

It focuses on maintaining the original backup functionality and behavior without introducing additional GUI features.

The standard version will continue to be maintained independently of GUI support.

GUI Version (-gui)

An optional enhanced build that includes additional graphical features while retaining the core backup functionality.

For supported versions, the GUI build allows players to:

  • Browse available backups from the singleplayer world selection screen
  • Select a backup to restore
  • Restore a backup as a separate world
  • Replace an existing world while preserving the original save

The restore interface is intended for local singleplayer worlds. Dedicated-server backup management continues to use the standard functionality.

GUI support will gradually expand to more Minecraft versions. Versions without GUI support will continue to have the standard port available.

Installation

Install the appropriate versions of:

  • Fabric Loader
  • Fabric API
  • Forge Config API Port
  • Simple Backups for Fabric

Choose either the standard or GUI variant for your Minecraft version.

The GUI variant is optional. You do not need it to use automatic or manual backups.

Mod Menu is an optional dependency for accessing configuration options.

About This Project

This is an independent, unofficial Fabric port of SimpleBackups.

The original mod is developed by its respective upstream authors. This project aims to maintain Fabric compatibility while keeping the standard port faithful to upstream.

Additional features, such as the optional GUI, are maintained separately from the standard variant.
