✨ Simple Stages
Simple Stages is a lightweight progression mod that lets modpack creators and server admins lock content behind player stages — entirely from an in-game GUI.
No datapacks.
No manual JSON editing.
Just create your progression and start playing.
🧩 What can be staged?
Simple Stages can restrict:
- 🔨 Recipes
- 🎒 Items
- 🧱 Blocks
- 🌍 Dimensions
- 👾 Mobs
- 🏛️ Structures
Everything can be configured through the built-in Stage Manager.
🖥️ In-Game Stage Editor
Create and manage stages directly in-game.
- Create, edit, duplicate and delete stages
- Searchable item & block browsers
- Select recipes by their result item
- Browse mobs, dimensions and structures
- Custom restriction messages
- Changes apply immediately
Open it as an operator with:
/stage editor
🔥 Recipe Staging
Stage individual recipes without needing to know their IDs.
Choose an item → Simple Stages shows the recipes that create it → select which ones should require a stage.
Supported vanilla systems include:
Crafting • Furnace • Blast Furnace • Smoker • Stonecutter • Smithing • Campfire
If a cooking recipe is locked, the ingredients can still be placed inside the machine — the recipe simply won't process until the player has the required stage.
⛏️ Behavioural Block Masks
Hidden resources can already exist in the world without players knowing.
Example:
Iron Ore → masked as Stone
Before unlocking the required stage, the player:
- sees Stone
- mines it like Stone
- receives Stone drops
After unlocking the stage, the exact same block is revealed as Iron Ore.
Perfect for progression-based modpacks without regenerating chunks.
📦 Made for Modpacks
Build your progression in-game, test it, then export it as your modpack's default configuration.
defaultconfigs/simplestages/stages.json
New worlds automatically receive the configured stages.
🔌 Modded Content
Registered modded items, blocks, mobs, dimensions, structures and recipes can appear in the Stage Manager.
Custom modded machines may require explicit compatibility for recipe enforcement, depending on how that mod processes its recipes.
Simple Stages 1.3.0
A major overhaul focused on making stage-based progression powerful, visual and easy to configure.
