Client Side Fabric Requires Simple Voice Chat

Turn your microphone into a full effects rack for Simple Voice Chat. This mod features fourteen voice filters, a soundboard, live preview, and a Voice Lab that basically lets you stack three effects at once. All of this is controllable from one clean menu put right onto Simple Voice Chat's own UI.

Something to note tho, no one else needs this mod to hear the filters and soundboard, only simple vc** Every filter and every soundboard sound is put directly into your microphone audio before it ever leaves your game and gets encoded by Simple Voice Chat. The server doesn't need it. Your friends don't need it. As far as anyone else in the call is concerned, you're just talking. They hear the Robot filter, the Demon voice, the airhorn you just dropped in, whether they have a single mod installed or not. If it comes out of your mic, everyone hears it.

What This Actually Does

Simple Voice Chat sends your raw microphone audio through a pipeline before it ever reaches another player: capture → noise suppression → gain → Opus encode → network. This mod hooks into that pipeline at the earliest possible point, right after your mic is captured and before anything gets encoded, and rewrites the audio in place.

That's the whole trick. There's no server-side component, no proxy, no "special" audio format. By the time your voice reaches Simple Voice Chat's own encoder, it already sounds like whatever you set it to. Everyone downstream, the server, other clients, recordings, anything, just receives a normal voice packet that happens to sound like a robot.

A Filters button gets added directly into Simple Voice Chat's own Voice Chat popup, right next to Settings and Group, so there's nothing extra to learn.

Voice Filters

Every filter runs on a shared -3 to +3 intensity scale. 0 is off. 1 is "fully on" — the effect at its intended, reference strength. Push past that, up to 3, for something a lot less subtle.

Vocal Character

Pitch A clean pitch shift, up or down, no other coloring
Growl A sub-octave layer plus heavy distortion, built for metal-vocal energy
Harmonizer Adds a second voice a musical third above (or below) your own, mixed in as real harmony

Space & Texture

Filter What it does
Echo A repeating, decaying delay tight slapback or a long cavernous hall
Reverb A proper multi-comb reverb tail, not a cheap single-delay imitation
Chorus Thickens your voice with a modulated delay, like doubling a performance
Muffled Talking through a wall push the slider negative for a growl instead
Radio Narrowband crackle, steep-cut like it's coming through an old speaker

Distortion & Noise

Voice Lab, Stack Up to 3 Filters

Why choose one filter when you can chain three? Voice Lab adds two extra slots on top of your main filter, applied in order: Slot A → Slot B → Slot C. Each slot has its own independent intensity.

Some combinations worth trying:

  • Growl → Echo → Reverb — a monster shouting down a hallway
  • Demon → Radio → Bitcrush — a possessed walkie-talkie
  • Pitch (up) → Chorus — an unsettling chorus of yourself
  • Robot → Muffled — a robot trapped behind a wall

Advanced Tuning

Fine control that applies on top of whatever filter (or filter stack) is currently running:

  • Tone - brighten or darken the result, independent of what the filter's own frequency shaping is already doing
  • Mix - blend the effect back toward your real voice without touching intensity, for when a filter's character is right but it's too drenched in
  • Smooth Tails - lets a decaying Echo, Reverb, or Chorus fade out naturally after you stop talking instead of getting hard-cut mid-decay. On by default.
  • Bypass Key - bindable keybind that drops you back to your real voice instantly, in either toggle mode (press to flip on/off) or hold mode (push-to-talk style, bypassed only while held)

Soundboard

A full soundboard, built right in:

  • Bring your own sounds - drop MP3s or WAVs into a folder and they show up as buttons automatically. MP3s get converted for you, no extra software required.
  • 12 keybinds - bind any sound to a key for instant playback mid-conversation.
  • Actually transmits - soundboard sounds go out through voice chat for real. Other players hear them exactly like they'd hear your voice, filter and all.
  • Mute controls - a master mute kills soundboard audio for everyone including you, and a separate toggle lets you stop hearing your own soundboard locally while everyone else still hears it normally.

Live Preview

Hear exactly what a filter sounds like through your own speakers before you commit to it in a live call, mic straight to your speakers, filtered, nothing else in between.

While Preview is running, nothing you say gets sent to anyone else. You can sit there testing filters and fiddling with sliders without broadcasting the process to the whole voice chat.

Presets

Save your favorite filter combination, all three Voice Lab slots included, to one of three preset slots. Click to load, shift-click to overwrite. Switch your entire setup by pressing a button instead of rebuilding it every time.

FAQ

Do my friends need this mod to hear the effects?
No. Every filter and soundboard sound is applied to your outgoing audio before it's sent, so it works for anyone listening, modded or fully vanilla, doesn't matter.
Does this need to be installed on the server?
No — client-side only. The server just sees a normal Simple Voice Chat audio stream.
Can I use my own sound effects in the soundboard?
Yes. Drop an MP3 or WAV into the soundboard folder (there's a button that opens it directly for you) and it'll show up as a new button the next time the menu opens.
Will previewing a filter broadcast me fiddling with sliders to everyone?
Nah, Preview is private. Nothing transmits while it's running.
