Sodium Profiles
Sodium Profiles adds video presets to Sodium and lets you switch between them with one key, at any point in the game. Press F10 and your whole set of Sodium settings changes at once. No settings screen, no Apply button.
A short message on the action bar tells you which preset is active, for example Preset: Quality (3/3).
Features
- Three built-in presets: Performance, Balanced and Quality
- Up to five presets of your own
- F10 cycles through presets, F9 opens the preset screen
- A full editor: change every option of a preset with sliders and buttons, pick which options a preset touches and which it leaves alone
- Duplicate, rename, reset and delete presets
- Works inside the Sodium settings screen as well
- The interface follows your game language (English and Polish included)
- Client side only, works on any server
Keys
| Action | Default |
|---|---|
| Next video preset | F10 |
| Previous video preset | not bound |
| Open video presets | F9 |
All keys can be changed in Options > Controls > Key Binds. They work in game whenever no other screen is open.
Presets
The built-in presets change render and simulation distance, clouds, particles, leaves, smooth lighting, biome blend, entity distance, entity shadows, vignette, mipmaps, texture filtering and culling. They never touch VSync, the FPS limit or chunk update threads, since those depend on your hardware. You can still put them in your own presets.
The preset screen (F9) lets you:
- Create a preset from your current settings. The editor opens right away.
- Edit a preset. Every option has a checkbox: checked means the preset sets it, unchecked means switching to that preset leaves the option as it is.
- Apply, overwrite with current settings, duplicate, delete, or reset a built-in preset.
- Choose which presets are part of the F10 cycle.
Presets never change GUI scale, brightness, fullscreen, resolution, the attack indicator or options that need a game restart.
Changing mipmaps or texture filtering reloads resources, the same way the Apply button in Sodium does. If you want instant switching, keep those two options the same in the presets you cycle through.
Sodium settings screen
On Sodium 0.8 and newer the mod gets its own entry in the Sodium settings sidebar, with options for the switch message (action bar, toast, chat or off) and a button that opens the preset screen. On older Sodium versions a Manage presets button is added to the Sodium settings screen.
ModMenu is supported but not required.

Configuration
Everything is saved in config/quickprofiles.json and survives restarts. You can edit the file by hand while the game is closed. If the file gets broken, it is kept as quickprofiles.json.broken and the mod starts with default presets.
The same config file can be shared between different Minecraft versions. Options that a given Sodium version does not have are simply skipped.
FAQ
Does it work on servers? Yes. It only changes your own video settings, nothing is needed on the server.
Does it replace Sodium settings? No. It uses Sodium's own options and saves them the same way the Sodium settings screen does.
Can I use it without Sodium? No, Sodium is required.
